It was almost time for the signing. When I reached the meeting room, everyone from Gallop Energy was there-except Aaliyah.
She was the signing representative. We couldn’t start without her.
I sat down and waited quietly.
The Gallop Energy team fidgeted nervously. Aaliyah had left in a hurry without even taking her phone.
After a while, they hesitantly mentioned that a female employee had taken Aaliyah away earlier.
I immediately grew suspicious. “A female employee? Which one?”
After their description, I shot to my feet.
Only two women in the entire company would approach Aaliyah-Lily or Chloe.
The description of someone with a “cold, almost authoritative air” could only be Chloe.
I headed straight for Chloe’s workstation with my people. She wasn’t there. After a moment’s thought, I turned and rushed toward the break area.
If Chloe took someone to change, it had to be in a changing room.
The employee changing rooms were separated by gender.
Heading for the women’s room immediately drew attention. Chloe’s colleagues followed closely behind.
Third Person POV:
Natalie had asked them to look out for Chloe, saying she was straightforward and could easily rub people the wrong way.
Now that Samuel was storming in looking for Chloe, everyone was on edge.
“Chloe, what are you doing?” Samuel was already seething. Seeing Chloe blocking the changing room door, his expression turned terrifying.
Chloe hadn’t expected Samuel to arrive so quickly. She immediately stepped in front of him.

“Mr. Samuel Scott, this is the women’s changing room. Are you lost?” Chloe was, of course, playing dumb.
At this point, every second she could stall counted.
Inside, Aaliyah heard voices and shouted, “Mr. Samuel Scott? Is that you?”
She banged on the door. “I’m locked in! Mr. Samuel Scott!”
“Open the door.” Samuel’s voice was ice-cold. His gaze on Chloe was sharp enough to cut her down.
He just thought Lily and Chloe were two crazy women.
In all his years in Moon-Shadowed Pack, he’d never encountered anything this absurd.
Penelope was right-ever since Natalie returned, the atmosphere in Moon-Shadowed Pack had gone sideways.
“I… I don’t know where the key is.” Chloe frowned, taking a guilty step back.
Samuel looked scary. Besides, she had no real justification for locking Aaliyah in the room. If this came down to accountability, even Natalie might not be able to protect her.
But with her limited options, stalling was all she could do.
She’d promised to wait for Liam. She had to tough it out and buy more time.
Samuel didn’t waste words. He grabbed Chloe’s wrist, forcing her hand open.
But there was no key in her palm.
She glared at him and yanked her hand back. “Don’t touch me.”
“The key.” Samuel bit out the words, staring at her.
Chloe stayed silent. Just then, Samuel’s assistant hurried over with the spare key.
Samuel motioned for the assistant to open the door.
Chloe blocked the way again. “Do you even know who Aaliyah is? She’s not a good person! I’m just vetting her for Moon-Shadowed Pack!”
A small crowd had gathered outside the changing room. Samuel’s face was dark with fury. He gave a nod, and bodyguards stepped forward to pull Chloe aside.

Unable to struggle free, Chloe could only watch as the changing room door swung open.
Aaliyah had been locked in for nearly an hour. Her hair was disheveled, cheeks flushed, breath ragged. “Mr. Samuel Scott, this woman tricked me into here and locked me in!”
She had pieced it together, knowing Chloe was trying to sabotage her signing.
“My apologies for the scare. She’s a young lady from the Grayclaw Pack, here as an intern. She is a bit willful. I’ll deal with this seriously. Chloe, come and apologize to Ms. Cooper.” Samuel’s tone was flat, devoid of emotion.
He handed Aaliyah a handkerchief, signaling her to wipe the sweat from her brow and calm down.
Bystanders watched, confused about why Chloe would act so wildly.
Uninformed onlookers began whispering. “No wonder Chloe has a bad reputation outside—she even dared to bully a company guest.”
“What is the point of bringing a spoiled girl like her into the Scott Group? Such an embarrassment.”
Amid the scornful murmurs, Chloe’s face hardened.
Samuel wasn’t letting her off. He had people forcibly bring Chloe over to apologize to Aaliyah.
Aaliyah relaxed, even allowing a slight smile. “Ms. Chloe Kelly, I’ve heard of you. You’re quite well-known in Maritime City. Grayclaw Pack must have its hands full with an adopted daughter like you.”
“Someone like you has no right to talk about me,” Chloe shot back.
Aaliyah was still fuming. She glanced at Samuel but kept her composure. “Mr. Samuel Scott, it seems Ms. Chloe Kelly has no intention of apologizing.
“But if word gets out about her behavior, it won’t just make Gallop Energy think the Scott Group is uncooperative-it’ll make people see all Scott Group employees as unhinged. The damage would be severe.”
