Chapter 347 Relying on You
Chapter 347 Relying on You
So, was it really his fault?
Thinking this, Draven’s expression finally shifted. He looked at Kayla coldly.
He had no doubts about life or grudges.

The only thing he ever wanted to ask Kayla was why bring him into this world, and why treat him that way after?
But Draven long ago forbade himself from voicing it, because the moment he did, he’d become the weaker party. It would be as if he were still asking something from Kayla…
His pride wouldn’t allow it.
Besides, it wouldn’t matter anymore.
For once, Kayla saw an emotion in Draven that she rarely noticed-something like anger, resentment, or struggle. But when she looked closely, his eyes were still filled only with cold indifference.
Kayla was frustrated. She cared so much for him yet he showed no respect, no understanding of her concern!
“Fine. If you don’t want to talk to me, then keep quiet. I’m not going to argue with you.”
She didn’t care if he was upset. They had always been this way. “This is how I am. I approve of Ayla as a person, but not as my daughter-in-law. From now on, I won’t acknowledge her to the outside world.
“However, if she wants to return the welcome gift to you, don’t take it. Even if there’s no mother-in-law relationship in the future, I’m no petty. Enjoy your time together; you should be happy in the process, the result doesn’t matter.
“Remember, women need to be cherished. Don’t hurt Ayla’s feelings. The thing I despise most is men who are cold and indifferent to women.”
With that, Kayla left.
Draven watched her go, his expression dark.
Kayla had always been half critical, yet could still show kindness.
Like when she hurt him as a child. She realized her mistake, apologized, and then repeated the cycle-maybe that’s why he still interacts with her.

If she were truly ruthless, he’d only show up at her funeral.

Kayla, hurt by her son, got into the car. Elizabeth could tell by her expression that the conversation hadn’t gone well. She didn’t ask; sometimes it’s better not to interfere.
“I’ve been trying to learn how to be a good parent, right? But it seems useless no matter how much I try. I don’t know what to do.”
Kayla cared for Draven. She had come to see the girl he liked so she could understand her son better.
No matter who the girl was, she would give a welcome gift and offer advice on how to treat him well. But what use was it?
Kayla was a little sad, but she wouldn’t dwell on it.
Still, she had the sense that Ayla’s face seemed familiar.
“Elizabeth, have I met Ayla before?”
Elizabeth thought for a moment. “Ayla grew up in Trensea. You’ve never met her.”
“Then it’s strange. Her eyes feel familiar somehow,” Kayla muttered, then, exhausted, closed her eyes to rest.
Elizabeth didn’t say anything, letting her rest.
Elizabeth had been by Kayla’s side since her youth, so she had seen her sacrifice sleep for power and witnessed her decisive, sometimes ruthless methods. She had seen it all and now, at her age, lived life as she pleased.
The only thing that still caused her worry was Draven, but her methods were off, and her good intentions often went astray.
Oh well. Let it take time.
Maybe ten years from now, mother and son would finally be on the same page.
No one could predict that.
After Kayla left, Draven went back to find Ayla. She was sitting in the corridor opposite the small garden. Seeing him, she smiled and walked over.

Draven noticed how concerned she was about Kayla, and recalling what Kayla had said, he first felt an indescribable sadness, then a flash of anger at his mother.
Kayla was his mother. Whatever she did, he bore it alone.
But he couldn’t bear for the same to happen to Ayla.
He could not even think about it.
Seeing Ayla’s questioning gaze, Draven pulled her into his arms, holding her tightly.
Ayla froze for a moment, sensing his unusual mood, but let him hold her. His embrace was broad, but now felt a little shaky. What was wrong with him?
“Did she upset you?” she asked.
“No.” Just missing you.
“That’s good.”
He said, “I’m a little worried about you.”

“Worried about me?” Ayla smiled. “It’s just dinner. What could happen to me?”
Draven was grateful she hadn’t heard the earlier words; otherwise, he would have hurt for her
even more.
He didn’t want her to feel even the slightest grievance.
Seeing that he hadn’t let go, Ayla said, “Don’t worry about me. Pretending to date you is just me relying on you. I’m not afraid of anything now.” Even if Troy caused trouble, she had backup.
