Earlier that morning, Martin had asked Ayla about her plans. That was when he learned she had once worked as a secretary at Draven’s company. Of course they knew each other. Since everyone was leaving anyway, it made sense for someone to see her off.

Ayla had been tense the whole time. Only now did she turn to look at Draven, and she froze.

From him, she felt the same cold distance as the first time they met.

Draven stood there, completely out of place among the crowd. His eyes were cool and empty as he looked over the family. There was no emotion in his gaze at all. He stood apart, unmoved, as if none of this concerned him. If everyone here dropped dead, he wouldn’t even blink. He looked cold, ruthless, and indifferent.

This version of Draven felt nothing like the man she knew now.

To Ayla, he suddenly felt like a stranger.

Draven noticed her staring. He looked back at her. The coldness in his eyes didn’t fade. He clearly felt her pause, as if she had been stung by that look.

He didn’t want to scare her. He quickly turned away and said to Martin, “All right.”

Then he waited for Ayla.

Ayla didn’t know what was going on with Draven but she held back her questions. It was better to leave first.

Everything that needed to be done was done. There was no reason to stay.

Before leaving, Ayla said to Martin, “Martin, I’m going now. When I have time, I’ll come visit you.”

In the entire family, Martin was the only one she still cared about. Just not as a granddaughter-in-law anymore.

Martin patted her on the head. “All right.”

Ayla nodded. For some reason, hearing his voice made her feel a little sad.

Her reluctance and sadness were only because of Martin. No one else. She could still visit him in the future, so there was no need to feel too heavy-hearted.

If anything, finally making the divorce clear was something worth feeling relieved about.

Ayla stopped thinking about it. Before leaving, she looked past Martin and met Troy’s eyes.

He had clearly been staring at her the whole time. Their eyes locked instantly.

She knew he was angry. Furious.

But she was angry too. She had been holding it in for a long, long time.

Troy had never cared about her.

So why should she care about his feelings now?

From beginning to end, Troy had never changed

They looked at each other for just a moment. Then Ayla pulled her gaze away without hesitation. She turned around and walked out, never looking back.

Draven nodded at Martin and followed after her

Troy watched Ayla walk away. For a brief moment, his mind went completely blank. When she finally disappeared from sight, a crushing sense of loss slammed into him. His heart panicked-truly panicked-like he had lost something incredibly important.

His chest felt like it was tearing apart. The pain was unbearable.

How could Ayla be so heartless?

He wanted so badly to chase after her and drag her back.

But Troy stood frozen in place. He had no strength to move.

Then Draven’s retreating figure entered his vision. Troy snapped out of it. All he wanted was to tear Draven apart.

So what if he and Ayla were divorced?

Draven had no right to replace him!

Besides, the divorce was never Ayla’s decision alone.

Never.

The sound of a car engine started outside the house. Ayla and Draven had already driven

away.

Bria looked at Troy and asked, “Do you want to-

She didn’t finish her sentence. Troy went from standing still to suddenly rushing out. Troy went from standing still to suddenly rushing out He moved so fast that no one had time to react or stop him.

“Troy! Where are you going?” Bria shouted as she ran after him.

Troy was already in the car. His face was set, clearly determined to chase Ayla.

Bria ran in front of the car and blocked him. “Troy, don’t go!”

“Move!” Troy yelled.

Bria froze. This was the first time he had ever yelled at her like that.

Troy slammed on the gas without caring about her at all. The car shot forward. Bria was terrified and could only jump out of the way. She watched helplessly as Troy sped off, shaking with anger.

With Draven there and with Ayla’s sharp tongue. Troy would definitely be at a disadvantage if he caught up. He had already embarrassed himself enough tonight. Was he really going to chase her just to embarrass himself even more?

Wait. Something wasn’t right.

Why was Troy chasing Ayla at all?

Wasn’t divorce a good thing?

Bria stared at the dark mountain road. A sudden thought hit her, and her face turned pale. She forgot all about being grounded for two weeks. She looked shocked.

Oh no! Seriously?! Did Troy actually have feelings for Ayla? Is he unwilling to divorce her?

Draven had drunk alcohol tonight, so Ayla was the one driving. After Draven got into the car and fastened his seat belt, Ayla stepped on the gas.

Neither of them felt like talking.

Ayla didn’t have the energy for conversation.

Normally, even in front of him, she had to force herself to stay alert. Being around people. always felt like a kind of social performance.

Now, she was exhausted and wanted to be herself. She stared straight ahead with a blank expression and treated Draven as if he weren’t there.

Not long after they started driving. Ayla noticed something in the mirror. Troy was actually chasing after them.

She was surprised. Ayla thought that with Martin there, Troy would behave. She didn’t expec him to have the nerve to follow them.
