Draven’s grip was strong.

Ayla froze.

Draven steadied himself, forcing the wild thoughts in his chest back down. He lowered his voice and asked, “Where’s the ring?”

Ayla remembered they were about to see Kayla. In my bag.”

Draven took it out. He asked Ayla to switch hands on the wheel, then leaned over and slid the ring onto her ring finger himself.

There was a clear scar on her index finger. It looked like a cut from cooking.

Draven’s heart tightened. His face stiffened, and his eyes went blank for a moment.

After he put the ring on, he leaned back, closed his eyes, and sat upright again.

He didn’t want Ayla to see anything in his gaze.

Truth was, back at the estate, he had almost lost control. He had wanted to do something

reckless.

But he knew it would scare her.

Earlier that day, Kayla had asked him, if he had known sooner, why hadn’t he taken Ayla away

back then?

Now, he finally had an answer.

If Draven had known three years ago that Ayla would suffer with Troy, even if he hadn’t been sure whether he loved her, he would have taken her away without hesitation. He would have done it even against her will.

These ugly, selfish thoughts were things Ayla could never know.

Just like now. After learning what she had been rough, he badly wanted to be closer to her. He didn’t want them to go home, split up, and return to separate rooms like distant roommates who didn’t speak.

Tonight, he was greedy.

He had Kayla help him. He stayed behind with Ayla, kept her company, and made it hard for her to refuse his closeness.

Before Ayla loved him, he could only act this way-quietly, unfairly.

Ayla, if you find out someday, please don’t blame me for scheming to win your heart.

Troy chased after Ayla out of pure instinct.

He just wanted to get her back.

But Ayla noticed him quickly; she sped up, trying to shake him off.

When Troy saw her make a sharp turn at high speed, he was shocked and furious.

Was she willing to risk her life just to escape him?

For a moment, Troy couldn’t breathe. His hands and feet went cold. If Ayla died right in front of him, he had no idea how he would live with it.

Terrified, he slowed down and followed through the turn.

When he saw that she was fine, even speeding through another bend, his fear turned into shock.

Her driving skills were far better than he had ever imagined.

He finally realized he couldn’t catch up to her. Troy hit the brakes and pulled over to the side of the road.

His face was swallowed by the dark as he stared out the window. His eyes were filled with bitterness and unwillingness to accept this.

Ayla, the divorce isn’t your decision alone.

I didn’t agree for us to get a divorce. How dare you run away?

He slammed his fist into the steering wheel. The skin on his knuckles split open. He didn’t

care.

His phone buzzed wildly, Eric was calling.

Troy ignored it. After calming down, he drove back to the estate.

By the time he arrived, his face showed nothing just the usual cold pride.

He listened quietly as the elders scolded him. They blamed him for almost hitting Bria. His grandfather and father both warned him to stay away from Ayla. Carmen seemed shaken.

she didn’t say much. Instead, Lance and Ollie stood nearby, making sharp, mocking

once,

comments.

Troy comforted the frightened Bria. Then he suddenly looked up and glanced at the two of them.

His eyes were cold, like a snake’s, so cold it made their skin crawl. Lance and Ollie were petrified and fell silent at once.

That night, after Lance and Ollie finished hanging out with their usual shady friends, both of them were rear-ended on their way home.

They were terrified. Pale and shaking, they crawled out of their cars with bruises on their faces.

The cars that hit them had no license plates. The crashes happened in blind spots with no cameras. After the impact, the cars sped away.

Looking at their dented vehicles, there was no need to guess who did it. It was Troy.

Their faces twisted with anger, but neither of them dared to do anything. Troy had ways to shut them down before they could even fight back.

From a distance, Isabella watched the crash scenes. She coldly looked away and called Troy. “Boss, it’s done.”

“Okay,” Troy said, and hung up.

He walked over and knocked on Skyla’s door.

When Skyla opened it, she saw Troy standing there, his face dark and heavy.

She froze, then felt both shocked and happy. “Troy, why are you here?”

Troy said nothing. He pushed his way inside. His tall frame filled the room, pressing down on her as he looked at her from above.

Skyla stiffened. She wanted to say something to ease the tension, but before she could speak, Troy grabbed her waist. He lowered his head and kissed along her collarbone. When he reached her neck, the kiss turned rough. He tore open her sleepwear in a hurry and pulled

her toward the couch.

He pinned her beneath him, his movements rough, forceful, and impatient.

Skyla felt a natural fear at his strength.

But wasn’t this what she wanted? She had been ignored all evening at the dinner. And now,

Troy had come to see her and not just to talk.
