Ayla could not help but look at Noah again. She caught the deeper meaning in his eyes and understood at once. She pretended this was truly their first meeting. I thought today was the first time we met.”
Then she asked, “Does Mr. Shawn know?”
“He knows I fell for you at first sight,” Noah said. I asked him to contact you and introduce
us.”
Ayla fell silent.
Seeing her calm reaction, Noah was not surprised. Ayla was outstanding and clearly not easy to pursue. He preferred being direct rather than circling around. Maybe it was the influence of studying abroad, but this was his style. “I know this sounds sudden, but this is how I feel After meeting you today and talking for so long, I admire you even more.”
Ayla thought to herself that after divorce, there really were many admirers. She said, “Sorry, Mr. Carter. I cannot give you an answer.”
“I know,” Noah said as he looked at her. Men often carry a hint of aggression when pursuing someone, and Noah was no exception. “Ms. Keaton did not clearly reject me. That means I still have a chance, right? As long as you do not dislike me, I hope you will allow me to show my interest.”
Noah spoke gently, with perfect manners. He was almost flawless.
But he was the first man Ayla had properly met like this. If something could happen after one meeting, that would be pure attraction and hormones.
She did not feel that kind of pull.
Besides, Draven alone already gave her a headache. She had no energy for other admirers.
Just as Ayla was about to refuse clearly, a shadow suddenly fell over them.
It was abrupt and forceful.
Ayla and Noah both turned their heads and saw Troy, his face dark and cold.
Ayla’s expression changed at once.
Noah noticed her reaction and sensed from Troy’s presence that this man was above him in status. His heart sank.

Troy shot Noah a cold glance, then looked back at Ayla, whom he had not seen in days. Her life after divorce seemed very lively. He asked with mocking interest, “You do not answer my calls or reply to my messages. If I do not follow you, what am I supposed to do, Ayla?” He curled his lips cruelly. “You are the one who refuses to behave.”
Noah frowned under Troy’s chilling gaze. Hearing this, he was sure there was serious conflict between them.
Trying to protect Ayla, Noah said, “No one has the right to make another person obey.”
Watching Ayla smile and chat with Noah from afar, Troy had already felt the urge to tear him
apart.
And now he dared to speak.
Troy’s expression did not change. His eyes stayed cold. There was a vase on the table. In less than a second, he grabbed it and calmly smashed it over Noah’s head.
Noah never expected to meet a madman. Blood ran down his forehead. His vision blurred, and dizziness rushed in.
Ayla immediately ran and pulled out her phone to contact Halle.
Damn it. There was a signal jammer. Troy had brought it.
Troy moved fast. He already grabbed her wrist. Ayla shouted, barely getting out the word “Help” before Troy covered her mouth.
The private bar was quiet, with little interruption. No one noticed. Ayla could only glare at Troy, who stood right in front of her.
He was calmer than she expected. His grip was like iron, never loosening. His actions were extreme, yet his tone sounded almost negotiable “I told you. I have something to say.”
Ayla stared at him.
Troy spoke close to her ear. “Divorce is not your lecision alone, Ayla. That is why I came to find you. We need to talk about this again.”
He dragged Ayla away and pushed her into a car. He coldly ordered the driver to leave.
Perhaps knowing how well she could drive, the divider in the back seat was raised to stop from interfering.

The tight space brought heavy pressure and suffocation.

Her phone still had no signal.
It was Troy’s doing, just as she thought.

Knowing she could not escape, Troy finally released her. Ayla did not hesitate and slapped him hard.
He grabbed her wrist. Ayla blocked and then reached up to choke his neck. This time, he did. not stop her.
Troy sneered. “Go on. Use more force.”
Ayla clenched her teeth. Troy looked indifferent watching her struggle like an animal jumping around. She hated that superior, disgusting look.
She really tightened her grip. Her hands were strong. She felt his breathing grow weaker.
For a brief moment, she truly wanted him dead.
