Troy felt the pressure on his throat, but he was not afraid at all. Instead, he smiled at Ayla. The woman who once obeyed him in everything now showed only sharp claws and fangs.
How heartless.
Especially toward him.
Troy grabbed Ayla’s hands and started pushing them away.
Ayla used even more strength to fight back.
But Troy only looked into her eyes. With just a little force on her wrist, her hands slowly moved away from his neck.
The gap in strength always put Ayla at a disadvantage in front of Troy. That sense of defeat made her feel powerless.
And she had no weapon in hand.
Otherwise, she would have smashed his head open.
Her resentment toward Troy had built up bit by bit. She wanted dignity. Yet the man who had never truly loved her during three years of marriage now refused to let go. That was never what she expected.
She wanted the past to stay in the past, but it was still happening in the present.
Her anger toward him kept growing. He forced out of her.
Troy stared at the hostility in her eyes. His gaze urned colder. “I did not know you were so good at hitting people.””
Ayla thought of the blood on Noah’s forehead. Her heart sank. She could not control her anger. Noah had been completely innocent. “You are a lunatic.”
Troy’s face darkened. “What, you feel bad for that idiot?”
“You act like a beast. Should I praise you instead
“You knew he was interested in you and still talked with him for so long. Then he deserved it,” Troy sneered. “I hit him lightly. If he dares get close to you again, I will break his arm.”
His expression was cold and cruel. He was not joking. It sent a chill straight to the heart.

Ayla’s lips trembled. Her face turned pale. “You are insane. You are the one who deserves to
die.”
Troy no longer hid his rage. His face twisted as le glared at Ayla, as if he wanted to swallow her whole. “You protect a man you just met?”
“That is what any normal person would do,” Ayla snapped. “Only a madman who hits people without reason would be despised by everyone.”
Troy was so angry his breathing grew heavy. The fire in his chest would not go down. Draven was bad enough, but now even some nobody dared take Ayla’s attention.
“Do you like him?” Troy asked viciously.
Ayla felt a helpless fury. “Get lost.”
Troy took it as an answer. His anger exploded. “II had come any later, would you already be booking a hotel room with him? Ayla, you have some nerve.”
Ayla felt like she had heard the biggest joke. “Your mind is filthy. Stop making things up. Even if I wanted to, it would be none of your business.”
Troy smiled coldly. “If he dared do that, I would kill him right in front of you. You think I cannot?”
This was the first time Ayla felt Troy’s threat so clearly. His dominance allowed no refusal. He expected obedience. Her breathing grew heavy with anger. She clenched her back teeth and her fists.
Don’t rush.
She could not panic first.
Troy had planned this. He took her away when she was unprepared. She could not prevent it.
But Halle would notice soon. The staff would eventually find Noah.
Noah would likely be taken to the hospital quickly. Hopefully he had not fully passed out and
could contact Shawn.
She was taken away without reason. Halle would not drop it and would push Shawn for help.
Aqualith was Shawn’s territory. They would find her soon.
No matter how powerful Troy was in Trensea, he would not gain the upper hand here.
She was safe.

Nothing too serious would happen.
The most unstable factor was Troy himself.

Ayla was fairly sure Noah would be fine. Knowing she was safe for now, she calmed down.
Only then did she fully realize how terrifying Troy’s possessiveness was. Before this, even when he lost control, he had been relatively mild. Mostly he could not accept that she no longer loved him as much. He had never truly valued her anyway, not even when trying to win her back. He always stood above her.
Until she confronted the Winstons.
That must have triggered him.
Ayla was certain she was right. When they got the divorce papers, Troy had not realized how firm she was. Otherwise, he would not have believed she would obediently attend Martin’s birthday party with him as his wife. He did not stop her, confident she would turn back.
Only after Martin’s birthday did he sense her determination. That was when he finally began to take her seriously.
Ayla cursed him in her heart.
But no matter how far Troy went off the rails, she had to face the Winstons. If she did not, she would have no ground to stand on. Only by stating her position clearly to them would Troy be in the wrong. Then she would have reason to confront the Winstons openly. And Troy, no matter how ruthless, could not truly turn against everyone.
