“I will do things that make you unhappy,” Troy said calmly. “If you suffer, I feel better. That is your punishment for making me angry.”
Ayla clenched her teeth, her face cold and sharp “You really are sick. Shameless to the core.”
She finally understood. She had not driven him mad. Troy had pushed her, again and again.
Her refusals only made him feel challenged. He never reflected on his own wrongs. Instead, he escalated.
Ayla had many admirers. Some persisted after the first rejection, but once she made things clear, they all stopped. They were normal people. They understood basic respect and boundaries.
Only Troy was different.
He cared only about himself and never learned to respect another person’s will.
A twisted lunatic.
Seeing Ayla’s face dark with anger gave Troy a strange sense of pleasure. It was unusual, but intoxicating. He reached out and touched her head.
His gloomy gaze lingered on her dark hair. He even rubbed it gently, yet his lips curled into a cold smile. His words were chilling. “Before I met you, I thought I was normal. After meeting you, I realized I am a complete bastard.”
From the moment of divorce until now, Troy had been lost.
He could not understand why he felt such a strong sense of loss. It made him anxious.
At first, he could not accept that Ayla was the one desperate for divorce. The Ayla he knew loved him without condition. How could she want to leave?
He was angry for a while and caused trouble once or twice.
Later, when he thought back on the three years of marriage, he was sure of one thing. Ayla had loved him. So he stopped making noise.
Then he realized what he truly wanted.
Troy wanted to continue life with Ayla. He liked being taken care of and liked the way loved him.

In his whole life, Troy had never lowered his head to a woman. But he did it for Ayla.
And then Ayla turned around and played him. He felt deeply betrayed.
Troy could tolerate betrayal from others, but no from Ayla.
Never from her.
He grabbed Ayla’s arm, his eyes fierce. “Ayla, if anyone else dared treat me like this, I would make them pay dearly. But you treated me like a fool, and I still wanted you back. The more you try to escape me, the more I want to pull you back. That is why I keep becoming worse. You brought this on yourself by refusing to behave.”
Ayla found it laughable.
As if obedience would suddenly make him a decent person.
The truth was simple: everything had to follow Troy’s will. As long as she submitted completely, he would be satisfied.
The way out would be to play along, soothe his emotions, lift him up, make him happy, and then find a chance to escape.
But Ayla had crawled out of the swamp of that marriage and grown clear headed step by step. She had awakened long ago. She refused to live that way again.
And it disgusted her.
Troy did not deserve it.
Her silence drove him furious. “Speak. Why are you not speaking?”
Beneath her calm face, emotions roared, ready to break free. “On our wedding day, you gave me a divorce agreement. Our divorce was destined from the start. The one who wanted to divorce urgently was you. It was always you. I just tried, then gave up. I even fulfilled your wish. Now you disagree. What, are you split minded?”
“That was three years ago,” Troy snapped. “What thought then does not represent what I think now. I do not want to anymore. Is that not allowed?”
“Of course it is,” Ayla replied coldly. “Because my thoughts have changed too. I do not want to live with you anymore. I will not remarry you. If you enjoy forcing people, go force someone who wants to be forced. I am done.”
The emotions under her calm mask burst out. “Troy, you are impressive. You pushed me this

far. Let me tell you clearly. Because of you, I am terrified of marriage. I will never marry again in my life. I will not go back. And you, you rotten piece of past, you grew out of filth. You make me want to vomit.”
Her words nearly drove Troy insane. A pain like his heart being carved out surged through his body. He roared, “It is just going back to the past. Why not? Ayla, what are you fighting me for?”
“Can you not see it, Troy?” she said calmly. “I do not want you anymore.”
The words were quiet, yet they pierced Troy’s heart straight through. It was like a blade stabbed in, pulled out, then driven back again. Her gaze was firm beyond belief. For the first time, he felt true despair. This woman was like stone. She would never waver.
He did not understand. How did it come to this? He grabbed her shoulders. “You loved me once. Loving me again is not that hard. Ayla, tell me what you want me to do. This is my compromise. I am giving you another chance.”
