Chapter 520 Oceans

Ayla paused to think, then walked next door to his place. Her fingerprints had been registered ages ago. She pressed the panel, and the door opened smoothly.

Draven had been staying over at her place a lot more often recently, but this apartment was still regularly maintained by housekeeping. Everything was pristine, the cleanlined decor still elegant and expensive. Yet tonight, the living room was overwhelmed with photo frames, each displaying an image of the sea.

There were countless ones at first glance. The couch was buried beneath them, and the floor was almost completely covered.

It was quite overwhelming.

Ayla knew Draven loved the ocean, but she never imagined he would print so many photographs.

If she liked the sea, she would have bought a few oceaninspired artworks, not gone to this extreme.

She walked closer to examine them.

Ocean and sky. Nothing else; only endless seascapes.

The variations came from the waves, the shades of blue, and the clouds overhead. Sometimes an orca leapt from the water. Sometimes seabirds cut across the horizon. There were no people at all, only untouched nature.

She picked one up, studied it carefully, then turned it over.

On the back were the location and the date, along with a precise timestamp down to the minute. Several photos captured the same stretch of ocean, taken on different days and at different times.

Painfully meticulous.

Knowing Draven had taken them himself made her curious. She began going through them one by one, checking what kinds of marine life he had photographed.

He came out from the study.

Hearing the sound, Ayla looked up. He had not changed yet, still dressed in his shirt and slacks like any busy professional. Even so, he looked polished and striking as always. Satisfied, her gaze traveled over him before she turned back to the scattered photos. She sighed. There are so many. You love the ocean more

than I realized.”

She picked one up with an orca and read the details on the back. Why take this many?

Draven glanced at what she was wearing, then walked over. He took a photo from her hand, flipped it over, and checked the location and time. With that, the memory of that day resurfaced clearly. I like watching the sea. Whenever I am near it, I took pictures. I wrote down the time and place as I went. I never thought much about the reason. After doing it once, it just turned into a habit.”

So, you were obsessed with the ocean?

It started with an accident. Then I fell for it.” Draven looked at Ayla.

Finished.

Every time he saw the ocean, he remembered Ayla walking along the shore back then. Each photo meant he had thought of her at that moment.

At first, he did not understand his feelings. He assumed it was just a powerful memory, the kind that resurfaced whenever something triggered it.

He kept thinking about it, so he kept taking photos.

Looking back now, it felt strangely fitting, like something meant to be kept.

Ayla nodded, put the photo down, then took his hand and gently brushed his palm. It’s already late. What are you doing?

Draven leaned closer. Ayla instinctively stepped back, a flicker of guilt passing through her eyes. She had already showered and washed her hair. She forced herself to act calm, waiting for him to pull her into an embrace.

He looked distant on the surface, but he actually loved holding her. Sometimes it felt like he truly craved physical closeness.

But he did not hug her. He breathed in the scent of her hair, kissed her cheek, then straightened his body, standing like a barrier in front of her.

He lifted her chin, his gaze sharp. Shampoo. Body wash. Clothes. None of them smelled like home. Where did you go?

Ayla rarely did anything wrong, and the moment she faced him, she was exposed. She knew how relentless Draven could be. If she stayed silent, he would pry the truth out anyway. So, she chose a mix of honesty and evasion. I stopped by Halle’s place for a while. Ate something really salty, got sweaty, felt uncomfortable, so I showered

Liar,Draven interrupted coldly, not letting her continue. You’re nervous. Whatever you did, you think it’s wrong.

Ayla did not want a lecture. She took his hand, guided it to her lower back, and leaned into him until he wrapped an arm around her. I really didn’t do anything bad. Can we just let it go?

She had learned recently that acting sweet always worked on him. The moment she softened, he usually gave in.
