Granted, everything Troy had done was without Ayla’s consent. Ayla was the victim. She could choose to be cold and detached, to completely ignore the children who carried half of
her DNA,
But if one day she happened to learn that the two babies were not living well, growing up in a twisted childhood like the ones Troy and Draven had known, could she really stay indifferent? Or if she met the children one day in the future, how was she supposed to react?
And then there was Draven.
When Ayla thought of Draven, her chest tightened with pain.
What Troy had done was vicious. It was a double blow.
She might be entangled with the children for the rest of her life, and Draven would be too.
Ayla knew Draven loved her and accepted her.
Once Draven found out about this, he would definitely suffer.
And taking it one step further, even if Draven could accept it, could Ayla really allow him to bear that pain without guilt?
If the roles were reversed, if Draven had two children on the way with the woman Ayla hated most, could she accept it? Ayla was an ordinary woman. She had already been damaged by Troy’s emotional neglect. She was terrified of being hurt again. She no longer wanted to endure a painful relationship. What she wanted in the future was a love where there was only each other. She simply did not have the emotional capacity to tolerate something like this.
Because those two children would constantly remind her that the man she loved had children with another woman, that they would be tied together forever.
Ayla would be tortured by that reality. Breaking up would be inevitable. Even if they still loved each other, they would have to separate. Dragging it out would onl
hurt more than ending it cleanly. She did not want to live the rest of her life with that constant ache lodged in her throat. She did not want to watch two children slowly wear down the love between her and Draven. That was never the relationship she had wanted.
Love was supposed to heal, not hurt.
If Ayla herself could not accept it, forcing Draven to accept it would be shameless.
She would not do to others what she could not endure herself. Her conscience would nor allow it. She would never be able to get past it. And if she could not get past it, how could she

In what should have been a beautiful relationship, a festering wound had grown, one that could never be removed. How could she possibly ignore it?
During the past half year with Draven, Ayla had gone from being firmly against marriage to slowly becoming open to it. Many mornings, waking up in Draven’s warm arms, she had felt as if she had found new courage. She had even thought that maybe she could get married. again in this life.
People’s thoughts really did change with time. Ayla had believed she and Draven were heading toward a happy future. She had not expected a sudden turn, not toward something better, but toward the edge of a breakup.
A breakup.
She was going to break up with Draven?
Just thinking about that word made her heart ache violently. She looked at the man responsible for all of this and let out a bitter laugh. “Troy, karma’s coming to you.”
Even when Ayla divorced him, she had walked away with her back straight. When had Troy ever seen her lay her vulnerability bare like this? Why did it hurt so much? Because of Draven.
Troy understood that better than anyone.
The thought of Ayla becoming like this because she might lose Draven was unbearable to him. He wanted to say something about how their future family of four would be fine, but when the words reached his mouth, they came out as cruelty, sharp and vicious, hurting he again. “Karma? I’ve been living in karma since the day I was born. That’s the thing I’m least afraid of. Ayla, you and Draven were never right for each other anyway. What’s so hard to let go of? Our babies are about to be born. You’re going to be a mother. Why can’t we be together?” Troy sneered.
