In just that brief moment, the nurse announced that the daughter had been born as well.

When their daughter was wheeled into the nursery, she was crying at the top of her lungs.

Troy frowned with a hint of clear distaste, then silently stepped back and pushed Ayla forward. “Didn’t you say I can’t take care of a baby? She’s your daughter. Calm her down. Do it.”

Ayla was left speechless by his provocation.

Their daughter looked like Troy, and she also looked very much like Ayla.

Ayla’s emotions became overwhelmingly complicated. Hearing the baby’s heart-rending cries, she truly couldn’t bear it. She reached out with her pinky and lightly touched the baby’s cheek. The baby cried even harder. Ayla pulled her hand back quickly, as if she had been burned.

Troy mocked her mercilessly, “You don’t know how to soothe a baby at all.”

Ayla said, “Do the paternity test. Right now!”

Troy clenched his teeth. “Fine. Since you won’t let it go, then we’ll do the paternity test together.”

Halle and Edgar also saw the baby’s face clearly.

Watching from the side, Halle lost all hope. It was obvious the baby was Ayla’s, but she couldn’t say that to her.

On the first day after birth, the nurses helped take care of the newborns.

Troy went to talk to the doctor and came back with a stack of documents, including various legal papers and medical examination reports for the babies. Both children were very healthy.

“The paternity test results will be out tonight.” Troy handed the medical reports to Ayla and didn’t forget to remind her, “Ayla, congratulations. You’re a mom now!”

While waiting at the hospital for the paternity test results, Ayla pulled Halle out to sit in the car and get some air.

Images of the two babies flashed through Ayla’s mind. She looked at the distant buildings. outside the window and said, “I could tell at first glance that they’re my kids, but I just couldn’t accept being set up like that. I wanted to wait for the test results so I could completely give up.”

Halle studied Ayla’s expression. “I get it. Digging your heels in this situation isn’t a bad thing. I mean, what if they’re not your kids, right?”

Ayla knew that the chances were slim, but Halle comfort still helped.

She had seen the two babies with her own eyes. They were living, breathing little lives. Seeing them breathe, move, blink, and cry before her was an overwhelming experience.

Ayla had no experience caring for babies. Faced with them, she didn’t know what to do and felt frustrated.

Troy was even more unreliable. Even with a nanny watching the babies around the clock, someone still needed to keep a close eye on things.

Ayla truly couldn’t adapt to this new role right away, and Troy didn’t even have any intention of adapting to his new role. When their daughter cried earlier, he pushed her forward and hid behind her. She was left speechless by his actions. Since he had brought these children into the world, shouldn’t he have at least prepared himself to be a father?

Ayla had at least read materials related to caring for babies. She suspected Troy hadn’t learned anything at all.

Forget it. The more I think about it, the more pissed off I get.

Ayla emptied her mind and tried to steady her emotions. Slowly, she calmed down, even though things were still terrible.

She shifted her attention and asked Halle, “How are you feeling?”

Halle didn’t react at first, “How am I feeling? I’m doing just fine.”

“I am talking about Edgar. He already has a daughter.”
