After a few seconds, the tightness in Ayla’s throat eased.
Then, she finally said, “Long time no see, Mr. Storm.”
Draven hadn’t come alone. Herman was with him, along with his secretary. Halle and Lisa were there too, each bringing an assistant. The room suddenly felt crowded.
In a situation like this, even though Ayla’s emotions were unsettled, she still had to stay composed. It wasn’t just about being polite. Calmness was her armor.
Only when she stayed steady could her mind think clearly.
Ayla had always been proud. She didn’t want anyone to see her fragile side. After all, she had been the one who ended the relationship. If she showed pain or regret now, it would feel awkward-almost like she was putting on a show
Since the twins were born, Ayla had come to understand herself more clearly. The sense of responsibility she felt toward her children was stronger than she had imagined. Most of her attention belonged to them.
And in many ways, the children had healed her.
When Ayla first decided to break up with Draven, she tried to see things from his perspective. If Draven suddenly ended up with two children from a woman he didn’t even like, Ayla knew she wouldn’t be able to accept it in his place. She believed in a simple rule: never place a burden on someone else that you wouldn’t accept yourself.
Even though Draven had been willing to accept it, Ayla would still have felt guilty. She would continue to be a part of the kids’ lives in the future. That meant she would have to deal with Troy often. The truth was simple-Draven would always end up being alone while she handled things related to the kids and Troy. Draven would have to give up far more than she could. That imbalance wouldn’t disappear anytime soon. It could last for years. Sometimes it was better to accept a short pain instead of dragging out a long one.
Breaking up had been the best choice for everyone. After the separation, Ayla realized just how deeply she had loved Draven. But she never truly regretted her decision.
Maybe there were one or two moments when regret slipped in. During those times, she felt as if she had taken advantage of him to ask him o sacrifice so much for their life together.
But as time moved on, those feelings slowly faded. When the babies were born, even those thoughts gradually disappeared.
In the end, the regret didn’t matter anymore. That was no longer the point.

Draven pressed his lips together without meaning to. His hands, resting in front of him, slowly clenched into fists. After a brief pause, he gave Ayla a slight nod.
Halle and Herman exchanged a look.
As their friends, they could clearly see that Ayla and Draven still cared about each other. But watching them speak with such distant politeness was hurtful to watch.
Because they had seen how happy the two of them were together.
And compared to that happiness, the contrast felt almost unbearable.
Halle knew Ayla well. Right now, Ayla was probably just putting on a calm face. Deep down, she might even be trying to persuade herself that everything was okay.
But as her friend, Halle would stand by whatever choice Ayla made. Draven was truly a great man. Anyone could see that. Still, at the end of the day, he was just a man.
In Halle’s view, if a relationship only caused pain, then there was no reason to keep holding on to it.
Ayla felt that raising her kids while staying with Draven would only make things harder and more stressful. If it made her uncomfortable, then it was better to let it go. Sometimes feeling unhappy was reason enough. There didn’t have to be some big, complicated explanation.
Ayla wasn’t a young girl new to love anymore. She had already been through a failed marriage. From now on, love should make her life feel easier, not heavier. If a relationship brought more stress than comfort, there was no need to force it.
At first, Halle had tried to talk her out of it. After all, men like Draven were rare. In many ways, he really was the best choice.
But Ayla had now accepted being a mother, and she was handling it well. As her friend, Halle could only move forward alongside her.
Still, Halle had a feeling Ayla wouldn’t start dating again anytime soon-probably not for the next year or two. When someone like Draven had been part of your life, and when as deeply as Ayla did, moving on wasn’t

easy.
Lisa reacted quickly to the awkward situation. Thanks to her quick thinking, the conversation smoothly shifted to business. Everyone started discussing work, and the atmosphere slowly relaxed.
But Ayla remained distracted the entire time. Halfway through the meeting, she excused
