Divorce Me I'm Done Serving You (Ayla and Troy) novel Chapter 860

Even though Halle appeared tough on the outside and had to manage many people for her own business, she had always been the one taking care of others since growing up, aside from the times she and Ayla leaned on each other.

Halle doesn't mind taking care of people or backing up someone she likes. But she also wants someone to take care of her sometimes. That's just normal.

That was exactly why she and Ayla are such good friends—they support each other, rely on each other, and help each other become better and better.

"Okay, Mrs. Bowman," Halle said, letting herself enjoy this short moment of warmth.

Compared to Hayley openly showing her affection, Tyler was quieter about it. He also had higher expectations for Edgar. When Edgar didn't come home on time, his expression turned cold. But he didn't want to ruin Halle's mood. He cared for her in his own way—steady like a father, yet warm.

Halle got along very well with Edgar's parents. The atmosphere was smooth and warm, like they were truly one family.

Halfway through the meal, Edgar finally rushed back home.

Tyler didn't even give him a friendly look. He treated him like he wasn't even there and didn't even glance at him.

Edgar's face immediately tightened. His hands by his side slowly clenched into fists. He felt like Tyler looked down on him and was about to criticize everything he did wrong.

The moment Edgar stepped into the house, he already felt the pressure. It was suffocating, and it made him want to turn around and leave right away.

Hayley was the one who always helped smooth things over. She was angry that Edgar came home late on such an important day, but she couldn't let things turn awkward. "Why are you just standing there? Go wash your hands and come eat. We saved food for you."

Edgar pressed his lips together and went to wash his hands without saying a word.

Tyler's expression turned even darker.

Edgar came back and sat next to Halle. She could feel his mood, so she tried to help by picking some food for him. "Did something happen at work?"

With Tyler watching him, Edgar couldn't even lift his head. And now Halle had asked that question too. His face darkened even more. "Can we just eat first?"

He thought to himself. It's all Halle's fault. If I hadn't been so upset at her place, I wouldn't have gone to take it out on Nina!

And it was just one business dinner anyway. How serious could it have been? If it didn't get done today, it could easily be handled tomorrow. I just took one day off! What was the big deal?! Am I not even allowed to rest for a single day?

But Tyler kept siding with Halle and even said all of that in front of her, not leaving him any dignity at all. Edgar felt deeply humiliated. It was unbearable. Has Halle brainwashed my parents all these years? Is that why they keep turning against me? That must be it.

But Edgar didn't dare fight back. He only gave a quiet "mm," and said nothing else.

Tyler couldn't stand it anymore. "Halle, eat more."

In truth, this wasn't something Edgar could handle with his own ability. Only Tyler could clean up the mess in the end.

But what made him so angry wasn't just that Edgar had made a mistake. If he had been responsible and fixed it properly, it would have been fine. What really upset him was something deeper—Edgar simply wasn't capable enough.

If a person isn't capable, they can't succeed at anything. As a father, he saw that very clearly. And the more he tried to correct him, the more Edgar seemed to resent him instead. That was what worried him and left him feeling helpless the most.
