So with Blake's personality, there was no way she would stop trying.
She took the milk from Herman.
Even with sugar added, the milk didn't taste much better. She forced herself to drink half of it before she couldn't take another sip.
Herman also knew he couldn't push her too hard at first. Being able to drink something warm was already a big step.
"You did great today," Herman said encouragingly.
Blake said, "Are you talking to me like I'm a kid?"
"I wouldn't dare. You're the older one, Blake." Herman gave her an elegant wink, polite and a little charming.
Herman was only half a year younger than Blake. They were born in the same year, so there wasn't really a big age gap.
Still, she liked it when he acted as if she were the older one.
It gave her a strange contrast.
And it gave her a different kind of thrill.
After washing the glass, Herman walked over to the dining table. "Does your stomach feel okay?"
Blake rubbed her stomach. She liked cold drinks. If she drank slowly, it was fine, but if she drank too fast, the cold would upset her stomach and leave it aching faintly.
But she never planned to change that habit.
She didn't expect Herman to try to change it today.
Since the milk was warm, her stomach felt completely fine.
"You should switch to hot coffee at the company too," Herman pushed a little further.
Blake stood up and said casually, "Once we're at the office, stay out of it. We're not close."
She meant they weren't close at work.
But Herman wasn't discouraged at all.
Once he found a way in, he wasn't about to let the door close again.
If Blake wanted to resist him, it was only going to get harder from here.
Little by little, Herman was going to leave her no room to resist.
He was determined to become part of her life.
To weave himself into her everyday world.
Herman had even wondered if he was just being misled by one-sided feelings, if he was simply scaring himself.
But when he finally gathered the courage to act, things were going better than he expected.
Still, Herman also trusted his own judgment.
If he had tried to take their relationship further before these past two years, things never would have gone this smoothly.
