Divorce you and marry him novel Chapter 6

Chapter 6

Over the next few days, Katherine stayed in her room and focused on recovering.

No matter what people outside were saying about how devoted Nicholas was to Samantha, or how he gave her everything she asked for, Katherine ignored it all.

Then one day, while she was quietly reading, she suddenly heard hurried footsteps and loud voices outside.

“Move! Careful!”

“Go get a doctor, now!”

“Watch the steps!”

Katherine lifted her head. Through the half-open window, she saw a group of people rushing past carrying a figure covered in blood, with Samantha stumbling along beside them. Her eyes were swollen red from crying.

And the man being carried, who was pale and barely conscious, yet still forcing himself to lift a hand and wipe Samantha’s tears away, was Nicholas.

His voice was weak, but it still carried clearly. “Sammy, don’t be scared. I’m fine… It doesn’t hurt…”

Katherine set her book down and walked to the door.

Brittany had heard the commotion too. She hurried over and whispered, “Mrs. Padilla, I heard Mr. Padilla took Ms. Lester out to pick up some jewelry today, and they got robbed on the way back. Mr. Padilla was badly hurt protecting her…”

Katherine’s facial expression didn’t change at all. She only gave a soft “Oh,” then turned back to the table and picked up her book again, like none of it had anything to do with her.

Brittany couldn’t help asking, “Mrs. Padilla, aren’t you going to check on Mr. Padilla?”

Katherine didn’t even lift her head. “There’s a doctor. Ms. Lester is also there, and there are plenty of other people. They don’t need me.”

Over the next few days, people from Nicholas’ side kept coming to her.

“Mrs. Mr. Padilla says his wound hurts too much to sleep. He remembered the calming

“Mrs. Padilla, Mr. Padilla says-‘

Every time, Katherine answered calmly, without a trace of emotion. “I’m busy. I don’t know how. Ask someone else.”

Until one day, while she was organizing old belongings in her room, she heard footsteps behind her. Thinking someone had come again to pass a message, she didn’t even turn around. “I already said I’m busy,” she said flatly. “I’m not going.”

“Are you really that busy?” Nicholas’ voice came from behind her, restrained rage pressed into every word. “I’m hurt this badly, and you can’t even stand to come look at me?”

Katherine paused, then slowly turned around.

Nicholas was still pale, supported by two people at the doorway. His eyes were dark and heavy as he stared at her, tangled with confusion, anger, and a faint grievance he couldn’t quite hide.
