Divorced and Pregnant My New Life with a Billionaire Drives My Ex Crazy novel Chapter 194

Could it really be... Was the surrogate actually Ms. Morgan?

The idea hit Korey like a shock to the system. Once it popped into his head, he couldn’t shake it. The more he thought about it, the more convinced he became. Sweat started to bead on his forehead. Was it really possible for life to throw such twisted coincidences at people?

Wiona had no clue what Conrad meant by those last words. Still, she could tell he was off to handle something important. He told her to wait, so that was what she’d do. Maybe, just maybe, he really would find a way to save Adler.

Adler was wheeled away toward surgery, and Wiona, Molly, Dr. Monroe, and two bodyguards waited anxiously in the hallway. A little while later, a whole group of doctors in white coats rushed out of the elevator and disappeared into the operating room.

Dr. Monroe leaned toward Wiona, voice full of excitement. “I swear I just saw the hospital director, and the heads of several departments. Those are the big names you always see on the hospital’s website. They just walked in.”

“Wait, do you think the director himself is doing Dad’s surgery?” Molly’s eyes lit up, but she looked uncertain. “But... aren’t there a bunch of operating rooms? There could be other patients. Maybe it’s not for Dad.”

“How would we ever get the director for Dad’s surgery?” she added, doubt creeping in.

Dr. Monroe shot her a look. “You’re usually sharp, but you really lose your head when it comes to Adler.”

“Sure, during the day there could be lots of surgeries happening at once, but look around. What time is it?”

She glanced down at her phone. It’s midnight. The hallway was empty except for their small group.

“Other than your dad being rushed in for emergency surgery, do you see any other families waiting?” Dr. Monroe pointed out.

Just then, another group of doctors hurried past. Dr. Monroe’s jaw dropped.

“Wow... all the hospital’s top experts are showing up. They don’t even get this many people for a board meeting.”

“What is this, some kind of special treatment for Adler?”

Molly’s excitement was obvious. “Dad’s really going to make it, isn’t he? He might actually be saved.”

But Dr. Monroe shook his head. “Don’t get your hopes up too fast. Sometimes, the more specialists there are, the more serious the case.”

Molly’s face fell, her excitement flickering into worry.

“Don’t scare her,” Wiona said firmly. “If all these doctors are here for Adler, his chances are much better. But Molly, you have to be ready for anything, just in case.”

Wiona kept her worries to herself. She was certain Conrad was the reason all these experts had shown up. Who else could have pulled the hospital director and department heads out of bed in the middle of the night?

Tim and Jim took Wiona to a motorhome parked outside. She barely managed to settle in before she was out cold.

Even as she drifted off, her thoughts circled back to Conrad. Where did he go? She had waited in the hallway for so long and never caught a glimpse of him. Maybe he’d left. But if he did, why didn’t he say goodbye? Then again, he’d already done so much—pulling strings to get all those experts here. She was grateful. The rest was up to fate.

Still, she wondered how she’d ever pay him back for everything he’d done.

When Wiona woke up, sunlight was streaming through the window. She checked her phone—nine thirty in the morning. Instantly, she was wide awake.

She had slept so long. What happened with Adler’s surgery? Was he okay?

She tried to sit up quickly, but the room spun and dizziness hit her hard.

“What’s wrong?”

A large, warm palm pressed gently to her forehead.

Wiona looked up, startled and wide-eyed. “Conrad?”
