Even Bill, who had been listening from the back, thought it all sounded a bit much.
“Are they just bragging?” he muttered.
Kaden shook his head, arms crossed. “I don’t think so. We might be the top of alternative medicine in Stonehill, but the Blue family is the absolute best in the entire country.”
“They’ve got a reputation like the Sullivan Group does in Stonehill. The Blue family really is that legendary.”
“From what I’ve heard, they almost never take on apprentices from outside. All their skills are kept in the family, passed down through their bloodline.”
“That’s what makes them a true healing dynasty.”
“They’ve got way more history than we do. Their roots go back three hundred years.”
The Simpsons, on the other hand, had only started to rise in the last few decades. They were a modern family, with just three generations to their name.
Tristan nodded. “Kaden’s right. Even the youngest in the Blue family are born with talent. Every single one is a natural when it comes to medicine.”
“They are not like us. Aside from a few of you who really put in the work, none of the next generation are shaping up to be anything special. We’ve had to start training outsiders just to keep things going.”
He let out a long sigh.
“But since they’re the Blue family, maybe they really do have a way to handle the poison those people took today.”
“Actually, if you look at the old records, the Blue family has always been known as miracle doctors. That’s not just talk.”
Annette, hearing all this, rushed over with hope written all over her face. “Please, I’m begging you. Save my niece!”
“We’re not taking her to the hospital. Please help her. She’s still so young. Her whole life can’t end like this…”
Mateo glanced over at Sophie, his face cool and distant. “Sorry, but we’ll help the two gentlemen first.”
“Frankly, this young lady is not a good person.”
“We do believe in kindness, and she’s done some pretty awful things. We can’t treat everyone the same, not after what she’s done.”
“And, well, even with antidotes, there’s still an order to things. First come, first served.”
Annette was stunned silent, her face twisted up with emotions she couldn’t put into words.
Wiona, though, felt her eyes light up at their words.
They really had a strong sense of right and wrong. That was exactly the kind of people she liked.
Her mother-in-law might be upset, but Wiona actually felt relieved and satisfied. She thought these guys had great judgment—and solid principles.
She tugged on Conrad’s sleeve. “We should ask them for help, right?”
“Nikolai and Drake can’t wait any longer.”
“Maybe there’s a reason these men showed up today. Maybe it’s fate. Nikolai and Drake aren’t meant to die here.”
Conrad wasn’t someone who would risk his men’s lives for nothing. Even if he wasn’t thrilled about these strangers, he agreed.
