Divorced and Pregnant My New Life with a Billionaire Drives My Ex Crazy novel Chapter 464

Wiona glanced around at everyone crowding closer, and for the first time in a while, she felt a real warmth in her heart. “Seriously, thank you for sticking up for me. I really appreciate it. But can you trust me on this? I’ve got it covered.”

She wasn’t just saying that. Wiona was basically a pro when it came to climbing. And honestly, she didn’t plan on actually climbing up that rickety ladder. The whole thing was for show, just to calm everyone down.

She squared her shoulders. “Alright, I’ve made up my mind, Phil.” She shot him a look. When he came over, she leaned in close and whispered, “Be ready to catch me, just in case.”

With a deep breath, and with everyone gripping the ladder tight, Wiona climbed up two rungs—no more than that. She reached out, pretending to stretch as far as she could. “Alice, come here. Give me your hand, sweetie.”

The tree Alice was in was crazy tall. She must have been at least twenty feet up, so there was no way Wiona could actually reach her from so low. But she put on her best effort face, and Alice, who was a little naive but always eager to please, saw Wiona reaching out and instantly crouched down, trying to reach back.

Right at that moment, a panicked shout came from behind them. “What are you doing? Oh my god! Alice! Don’t move, do you hear me? Don’t move!”

Annette burst out of her car, running toward them like her life depended on it. Alice looked back, spotted her mom, and got so excited she tried to turn around on the branch. That was all it took. Her foot slipped.

She fell, fast. A scream ripped through the air. Everyone on the estate gasped, their fear echoing across the lawn.

“Miss Alice!”

“Alice! My baby!”

Wiona’s heart was in her throat, her whole body frozen. Time seemed to stop as everyone watched, eyes wide, not quite believing what they were seeing.
