**TITLE: Dreams Refuse Gravity by Leo Arden Knox**
**Chapter 115: Shattered Promises**
“If I decide to act, you won’t just walk away with a few bruises like you did at the airport,” Riley declared, her tone laced with a chilling certainty.
At those words, Bella’s body tensed instinctively, her complexion turning an ashen shade. The memory of the airport incident loomed large in her mind—a humiliation that felt like a shadow she could never escape.
“What did I do wrong?” Bella shot back, her voice edged with anger, her teeth clenched tightly. “At the airport, I was merely ensuring the safety of every single passenger aboard that plane. But you, Riley, I never imagined you would stoop so low as to summon the military to have the cops called on me!”
Vince, unable to resist the opportunity for a jab, interjected with a mocking smirk plastered across his face. “Look who’s talking now. Do you really think someone like you has the authority to call others low? It seems your stint in the detention center didn’t teach you a thing.”
“Enough of this! I did nothing wrong!” Bella retorted fiercely. “I was merely inspecting that urn to guarantee everyone’s safety on board!”
Riley’s voice turned steely, cutting through the tension like a knife. “If you genuinely believe you’re blameless, then your days as a co-pilot are numbered.”
Bella shot a glare at Riley, her eyes blazing with defiance. “I know you’re just envious. Jealous that Bryce actually cares about me, jealous that I’m a co-pilot—something you’ll never achieve!”
Riley chose silence, her indifference palpable, while Vince erupted in laughter.
“You’re living in a complete fantasy world,” he scoffed, his eyes glinting with disdain. “Do you honestly think anyone would be envious of some idiot being interested in them?”
When Bryce heard the word “idiot,” his expression darkened considerably. “Mr. Brunson, you don’t need to belittle me just to defend Riley!”
“Not belittling you, just stating facts,” Vince replied, his tone dripping with boredom yet sharp as a razor. “You took all the glory when your company went public, spent three years lavishing your side chick with jewelry, while ignoring the wife who helped you build it all. If that’s not idiocy, then what is?”
Bryce’s face twisted with irritation as the truth of Vince’s words sank in.
“And you,” Vince continued, turning his attention back to Bella, “shouldn’t assume that being a co-pilot means everything. Rye has flown more fighter jets than you could even name!”
Bella’s cheeks flushed a deep crimson, a mix of embarrassment and fury flooding her system.
