Divorced CEO's Forgotten Wife Strikes Back (Riley and Bryce) novel Chapter 146

**TITLE: Dreams Refuse Gravity by Leo Arden Knox**
**Chapter 146 I’ll Love Him Anyway**

Sebastian’s expression darkened, his features set in a rigid mask of determination. “If you dare to touch her, I swear I will make you regret it.”

It was a straightforward threat, yet Gregory understood that beneath his son’s words lay a fierce intensity, a burning conviction that could incinerate everything in its path.

“Is this girl truly worth the trouble?” Gregory inquired, arching an eyebrow in feigned curiosity.

“Without a doubt,” Sebastian replied, his voice steady, betraying no hint of uncertainty.

For a brief, poignant moment, Gregory caught a glimpse of his younger self reflected in his son’s fierce gaze.

“You really are just like I was at your age…” Gregory chuckled bitterly, the sound tinged with nostalgia. “But Sebastian, have you ever stopped to think that you are, in fact, my son? That your destiny might mirror mine? Even if you believe you’re in love with this woman, mark my words, one day she will abandon you, as easily as one discards trash.”

Sebastian’s countenance darkened, shadows creeping into his eyes.

Gregory pressed on, his voice dripping with disdain. “This woman may profess to care for you now, but what happens when she sees the truth of who you are? When she uncovers the darkness within you, the twisted corners of your soul? She’ll flee, I assure you, faster than you can blink.”

“You will never know true love. You should never have allowed yourself to feel anything for her in the first place. That flicker of hope you cling to? It’s your original sin…”

“Enough!” Riley interjected, her voice fierce as she lunged forward, seizing Gregory by the collar. “You are his father! How can you speak about him in such a cruel manner?”

“Because I am his father, and I know precisely what kind of person he is—a boy who is unworthy of love!” Gregory’s smile twisted into something grotesque, a mask of disdain. “You claim to care for him now, but believe me, one day, you too will abandon him. He is destined for rejection.”

Sebastian felt as if he were frozen in time, Gregory’s words piercing him like shards of glass, twisting painfully in his gut.

But it was all right.

He had long since ceased to care.

There was nothing Gregory could utter now that would truly wound him.

What gnawed at him, however, was the thought of how Riley would respond to those venomous words.

Would her once warm gaze now be filled with disgust, casting him aside like a forgotten toy?

The mere idea of her eyes turning cold sent a shiver of dread coursing through his heart, a quiet terror that gripped him tightly.

“I won’t abandon him, so could you just be quiet for once?” Riley shot back, her tone icy and resolute. “What do you mean he doesn’t deserve love? He is a thousand times better than you!”

Sebastian felt a jolt of surprise, his eyes widening as he gazed at Riley in disbelief.
