**Chapter 195: Why Would You Care?**
**Lucky Draw**
Sebastian stood there, his mouth agape, but his mind was a complete void. It was as if he had stepped into a dream where words failed him.
Riley, her gaze fixed on the photographs of Samuel that she held delicately in her hands—some of which were completely unfamiliar to her—broke the silence. “You’re helping me find my brother? Sebastian, thank you so much!”
Her heartfelt expression of gratitude snapped him back to the present moment. Yes, he had committed to assisting her in the search for Samuel, but these photographs represented so much more than just a quest for a missing person. They were fragments of a life, memories captured in time.
“Could you give me a copy of these photos?” Riley inquired, her voice hopeful.
“Uh… sure,” he stammered, still somewhat dazed.
As she picked up one of the photos, a soft sigh escaped her lips. “I wonder when I’ll see Samuel again. I miss him so much. You know, the scar on his shoulder was from protecting me,” she murmured, her voice tinged with nostalgia.
Sebastian felt a jolt of surprise. His hand, which had been hanging limply at his side, clenched into a fist, trembling slightly as he fought to process her words. Thankfully, Riley was still engrossed in the photographs, oblivious to the turmoil brewing within him.
“Back then, Samuel and I went abroad with our parents, and we got caught in a terrorist attack. Amidst all the chaos and gunfire, Samuel turned into a hero. He held me tightly in his arms, risking his own life to keep me safe. If it weren’t for him, I wouldn’t be here today,” she recounted, her eyes glistening with unshed tears as she stared at the scar on her brother’s shoulder in the image.
“You really love your brother,” Sebastian managed to say, his voice barely above a whisper.
“Of course I do! That’s why I have to find him,” she declared with unwavering determination.
“What if… what if you can’t find him?” he asked hesitantly, a knot forming in his stomach.
“No matter how long it takes, I’ll keep searching until I do,” Riley replied resolutely, her conviction shining through.
Sebastian fell silent, the weight of her words hanging heavily in the air. After a moment of contemplation, he ventured, “Riley, if someone did something to hurt your brother, would you ever be able to forgive that person?”
Riley looked up at him, her brow furrowed in confusion. “What kind of question is that? Whether to forgive someone who wronged him should be up to Samuel.”
“And what about you? Would you forgive them?” he pressed, unease creeping into his tone.
“It would depend on the situation. If they endangered Samuel’s life, there’s no way I could ever forgive them,” she answered with a fierce intensity.
Sebastian swallowed hard. The words he had intended to say felt lodged in his throat, rendering him speechless.
Noticing the pallor of his face, Riley set the photos aside. “You look like you’re not doing too well. You should head back to your room and get some rest,” she suggested kindly.
“Okay,” he replied softly, feeling a strange mix of gratitude and concern. Then, unexpectedly, he felt her take hold of his hand.
“Your hands are ice-cold!” Riley exclaimed, her eyes widening in surprise as she gently enveloped his hands in hers.
