**TITLE: Dreams Refuse Gravity by Leo Arden Knox**
**Chapter 23: Are You Even A Real Man**
Bryce hurried after Riley as she dashed out, her phone clutched tightly in her hand. Never in his wildest dreams had he imagined she would actually take the controls of a plane.
“Riley! What the hell are you thinking?” Bryce exclaimed, frustration boiling over. “Are you so jealous of Bella that you think flying a plane will prove something? Do you really believe you can handle this? You need to get off that plane right now!” His voice was a mixture of disbelief and concern, but mostly, it was laced with a possessive urgency.
“Bryce, let go of me!” Riley shot back, her tone icy and unyielding. She could feel his grip tightening around her wrist, and with a forceful tug, she freed herself. In one swift motion, she sealed the cockpit cover, determination radiating from her.
Lara, standing nearby, pulled Bryce aside, annoyance evident in her voice. “Oh for heaven’s sake, Bryce. Do you honestly think Bella is the only woman in the world with a pilot’s license? Is that really your take on this?”
With a scoff, she jabbed a finger into his chest, her frustration bubbling over. “And this nonsense about Riley being jealous? Let me give you a reality check: flying a plane isn’t some magical superpower. What’s there to envy? Her ability to read an altimeter?”
Bryce stared at Lara, confusion etched on his face. “What are you talking about? Riley can’t fly! She doesn’t even know what half those buttons do!” His disbelief was palpable, each word dripping with skepticism.
“Oh my god, just shut up and watch,” Lara said, giving up on reasoning with him. She turned her attention back to the plane, her eyes sparkling with anticipation.
Moments later, the roar of the plane’s engine filled the air, a thunderous sound that sent a thrill down Bryce’s spine.
As he watched Riley through the transparent cockpit, his eyes widened in disbelief. There she was, donning a pair of sleek goggles, her gaze fixed straight ahead, her expression a perfect blend of calm and determination.
Under her deft control, the plane glided smoothly down the runway, and with a sudden burst of speed, it ascended into the azure sky.
Bryce stood there, mouth agape, craning his neck to follow the plane as it climbed higher and higher.
Riley… can actually fly a plane!
The sight of the aerobatic aircraft performing intricate maneuvers against the backdrop of the cerulean sky left him feeling as if he were in a surreal dream.
Is it really… Riley flying that plane?
What shocked him even more was the complexity of the aerobatic stunts she was executing. Even someone as inexperienced as Bryce could tell that these were no easy feats.
The crowd below erupted into gasps of awe, their eyes wide with wonder as they watched the spectacle unfold.
Lara turned to Bryce, a teasing smile on her lips. “Wow, are you completely stunned? You look ridiculous!”
Heat crept up Bryce’s cheeks, embarrassment flooding him. Lara’s words felt like a slap in the face, leaving him in a painfully awkward position.
After what felt like an eternity, Riley’s plane descended gracefully, touching down with an elegance that belied the skill it took to execute such a landing. She emerged from the cockpit, her posture upright and commanding, exuding a confidence that was hard to ignore.
