Chapter 232 Reckoning by the River
“Of course, no problem,” Sebastian said readily. “But what’s wrong with your voice? Are you feeling okay?”
“It’s not that,” Riley said, her teeth gritted with fury. “I’ve confirmed who really started the border fire all those years ago.”
“Bella?”
“Yes, her!” Riley’s voice trembled with rage. “If she hadn’t caused that fire, Samuel wouldn’t have gone missing because of it! If anything happened to Samuel…”
Her voice caught, the unbearable thought too painful to voice.
“I won’t let Bella get away with this. She’s going to pay!”
“Alright,” Sebastian said firmly. “Whatever you decide to do, I’m with you. I’ll let you know what I find.”
After the call ended, Riley took a deep breath, her gaze returning to the computer screen, fixed on the frozen image of Bella tossing the cigarette butt.
Her heart ached, a sharp, twisting pain.

When Bella and Bryce stepped out of the hospital, Bella’s eyes sparkled with a triumphant smile.
“You’re okay, right?” Bryce asked, concern lacing his voice.
After all, she’d gone to the gynecology department, and he didn’t feel comfortable asking exactly what she’d been checked for.
“I’m fine, Bryce. I’m thrilled!” Bella said, her voice light.
The hospital tests had confirmed her suspicion—she was
pregnant.
Now, with Bryce’s child, she had an extra layer of security.
Even if Bryce learned the truth later, she was certain he’d forgive her for the sake of their baby.
After all, he loved her so deeply.
As for Garrett, the man blackmailing her, she’d make sure he learned a lesson he’d never forget.
A sly smile curled her lips at the thought.

“Thrilled?” Bryce echoed, puzzled, about to press further when
a car pulled up in front of them. A man stepped out.
“Bella, Mr. Torres wants to see you,” he said.
“What?” Bella and Bryce said in unison, stunned.
Bryce frowned. “Why does Mr. Torres want to see Bella?”
The man ignored Bryce’s question. With a wave of his hand, two burly figures grabbed Bella and shoved her into the car.
“Bryce!” Bella cried out.
Bryce shouted, “What the hell do you think you’re doing? You think you can just…”
But before he could finish, he was seized and forced into the car alongside her.
The vehicle pulled away from the hospital, disappearing down the road.

And she certainly never imagined that Bella would steal credit
for the rescue.
Now she had chosen this very spot to confront Bella.
Their story had begun here, and now it would come full circle.
“Whatever you decide to do to Bella, go for it,” Sebastian said, standing beside her. “I’ve got your back.”
Riley turned to him, her eyes steady. “Even if I’m so consumed with hate, I want her dead?”
“If you want to act, I’ll be the blade in your hand,” he said without hesitation.
Riley pressed her lips together, her emotions a tangled storm.
Just then, her phone buzzed with a call from Vince.
As soon as she answered, his voice crackled through.
“Rye, where are you? I’ve got something interesting to show
you.”
“I’m at the riverbank,” Riley said. 4/6
