Chapter 251 All Bella’s Fault
Riley shot him a cold, bitter look.
“Bryce, it seems you just fall for whoever saves your life. Maybe you should go jump in a river again and see who drags you out this time–just make sure you don’t mistake them for someone else.”
Without waiting for a response, she yanked open the car door and slid in.
Lara followed, and the car pulled smoothly out of the lot, leaving Bryce standing there like a statue.
It wasn’t until Amanda and Claire finally caught up to him that he blinked back to life.
“Bryce, where’s Riley? Did you tell her not to kick Claire while she’s down?” Amanda demanded.
“And,” Claire added with a whine, “Mom and I have court soon. You’d better get us a couple of highprofile lawyers. The ones we’ve got now are nobodies–we’ll probably lose. You’re so rich, spending a little more is nothing to 16, right?” 1/7

“And you still think I’m rich? Claire–what exactly can you do besides spend?”
“Bankrupt? How could you go bankrupt?” Claire was stunned. “Aren’t you the great Bryce Murphy? You took the company public in three years–can’t you think of a way to save it?”
A bitter laugh escaped him. A way?
If Riley were still in the company, it would never have come to this.
And the one to blame for it all–Bella.
If not for her, he would have had it all: a wife who loved him, a thriving business, a future brimming with promise.
Instead, here he was, watching his company teeter on the edge of collapse.
Even though the police had recovered the $49.5 million Bella transferred to Garrett using his phone, regulations meant the money wouldn’t return to his account for at least three months.

He needed to think. Really think. About what to do next.

At the law firm, Vince lounged back on the sofa, watching Shawn work behind his desk.
“Hey, Shawn, did you really call me in here just to watch you sign papers?”
Shawn finished reviewing the document in his hand, scrawled his signature, and finally looked up. “What’s going on between you and Lara?”
“Friends, I guess,” Vince said with a shrug. If it weren’t for Riley, their paths probably wouldn’t have crossed at all.
“Just friends?” Shawn’s gaze narrowed.
“What else? You hoping we’re more than that?” Vince asked, brow arched.
After a beat, Shawn said evenly, “You’d better not make 23

“Relax. I’m not interested,” he added, leaning back. “So what’s this really about? Don’t tell me you’re still hung up on her–trying to get back together?”
Otherwise, with Shawn’s personality, he never would’ve said something like that.
“Yeah,” Shawn admitted without hesitation.
He had to face it—he couldn’t forget Lara. Even after the breakup, she kept creeping into his thoughts.
And when he saw her at that hotel with Vince, the surge of jealousy that hit him had made it crystal clear: he was still hopelessly, maddeningly attached to her.
“You met her boyfriend?” Shawn asked.
“Boyfriend?” Vince raised a brow. “Haven’t met him. But it wouldn’t shock me if she had one.”
Shawn’s jaw tightened. Lara was warm to her friends and ruthless to her enemies. A personality like that could Offend plenty of people… but it also drew others to her8:24

Lara even if she’s got a boyfriend?”
“Is there a problem with that?” Shawn shot back.
Vince raised a brow, a little taken aback. Looked like Shawn had already made up his mind.
“But she doesn’t strike me as the type to get back with an

Shawn’s glare turned icy. “Alright. You can shut up and get out now.”
Vince shrugged, pushing to his feet. At the door, though, he couldn’t resist tossing one last comment over his shoulder.
“By the way, I heard Lara say she’s into younger guys these days. If she’s really not into you anymore, maybe don’t push it, Shawn.‘

She likes younger guys?
That would explain the photo album he’d spotted at her place, full of pictures of fresh–faced boys.
So her boyfriend is that type too?
And if she truly wasn’t willing… could he actually let her go this time?

The day Bella was released on bail–thanks to her pregnancy–she wasted no time calling Bryce.
“Bryce, I want to see you.”
When he arrived at her place, Logan and Miranda were already there.
The moment Miranda spotted him, she hurried over.
“Bryce, Bella’s counting on you! No matter what it costs, you have to hire the very best lawyers and win this case. We absolutely cannot let her go to prison!”
