Chapter 262 Who Was in the Car
Riley asked, “In the video, Samuel was getting beaten up and you got out of the car, but there should’ve been someone else still inside, right? When Samuel was clinging to the car door, what was he saying to whoever was in there?”
The surveillance footage only showed images–no sound.
Panic spread deeper across Wren’s face.
“I… I don’t remember…”
“Don’t remember?” Riley saw right through the lie. “Are you saying you can’t remember, or you just don’t want to tell me? Wren, don’t forget–Samuel is military, and the military’s been searching for him this whole time. If I hand you over to them for questioning, think you might suddenly remember who was in that backseat?”
Wren’s body shook violently–if the military got their hands on her, they’d force every last detail out of her.
But if she spilled everything herself, Sebastian would definitely make her pay.
“The person in the backseat was.
Just as Wren struggled with her impossible choice, a figure suddenly burst into the room.
“Riley!” The familiar voice echoed through the hotel rem. 15:46

“Sebastian?” Riley stared in shock at Sebastian’s pale face as he burst through the door. “What are you doing here?”
“I heard from Felix that you brought bodyguards here. I was worried, so I came to check on you,” Sebastian said tensely, stepping forward. His eyes flashed with murderous intent as he glanced at Wren.
“Yeah, I never expected Wren to have video footage from after Samuel’s accident,” Riley said.
From what she could see in the video, Samuel was in Germany, which meant he must have ended up there somehow after the border fire, and in the footage, he looked like he was desperately pleading with whoever was inside the car.
“Video?” Sebastian froze.
“Yeah, video.” Riley handed her phone directly to Sebastian, and the screen showed the footage Wren had sent her.
Sebastian’s face turned deathly pale.
His hand gripping the phone trembled violently, as if the small device weighed a thousand pounds.
Wren actually has video from five years ago… which means Riley…
“Wren, I’m asking you one more time. Who was in that car? Since you were there, you must know who else was with you!” Riley demanded harshly.

In the video, Samuel kept shouting at whoever was in the backseat, even making desperate gestures for help.
Still, the people who got out of the front seats just dragged Samuel away and dumped him on the roadside like trash.
Thinking about what she’d just witnessed, Riley felt her heart clench with agonizing pain.
Samuel was strong. Proud. A fighter through and through. But how weak must he have been–to be taken down by just two men and tossed aside like trash?
The moment Sebastian stepped into the hotel room, Wren knew she was done for.
Now, Sebastian looked at her like she was already dead.
Even if she didn’t say another word, just the fact that she’d brought this video to Riley was enough for Sebastian to sign her death warrant.
“Fine, Riley, you want to know who was sitting in the back seat, right? Just promise to spare my life and I’ll tell you!” Wren said, throwing everything on the line.
Just as Riley was about to speak, Sebastian cut in sharply, “Riley! Let me handle the investigation. You don’t need this woman telling you anything. I’ll look into it myself–I’ll find Samuel!”
His voice carried an urgency she’d never heard before, and the anety written across his handsome face was utterly foreign fo46
“Sebastian, why are you-”
“Gag Wren and get her out of here!” Sebastian commanded.
“Yes, sir!” The bodyguards who’d come with Riley immediately covered Wren’s mouth and started dragging her toward the
door.
Wren fought desperately, knowing that she was truly finished once they got her out of this room.
She couldn’t let them take her out—not like this!
But her struggles were useless.
Just as they were about to drag her through the doorway, Riley’s voice suddenly rang out. “Wait!”
