**TITLE: Dreams Refuse Gravity by Leo Arden Knox**
**Chapter 29: It Actually Has Something to Do with You**
Riley’s eyes widened in disbelief as she processed Sebastian’s unexpected words.
“Won’t you reconsider being my bodyguard?” Sebastian’s voice held an earnestness that caught her off guard.
So, this was the underlying reason for his earlier insistence.
Riley took a moment to gather her thoughts, her heart racing slightly. “I already told you last time, I’m not interested in being a bodyguard right now. Besides, Mr. Torres, you already have plenty of bodyguards who can protect you just fine.” Her tone was firm, but inside, she felt a flicker of uncertainty.
“But if it were you, no matter what danger we faced, you’d never abandon me, would you?” Sebastian’s gaze bore into hers, intense and unwavering.
He leaned in closer, the space between them shrinking, and for a fleeting moment, Riley was captivated by the depth of his striking eyes. They were usually so devoid of warmth, yet now they shimmered with something that resembled desire.
Desire? The notion sent a shiver down her spine.
Riley nearly chuckled at the absurdity of her thoughts. What was she thinking? Surely, Sebastian would never harbor such feelings for a bodyguard!
With a soft smile, she replied, “There are plenty of people in this world who won’t abandon Mr. Torres. You don’t need me to be one of them.” Her words were meant to be reassuring, but a part of her wished they held more weight.
As the elevator descended to the ground floor, the doors slid open with a soft chime. Without a second thought, Riley stepped out, eager to escape the tension that hung in the air.
“Mr. Torres, you should go to the hospital for a checkup just to be safe. I’m heading home now.” She didn’t wait for his reply, her feet carrying her away with a sense of urgency.
Men like Sebastian radiated danger, and every instinct within her screamed to keep her distance from someone like him.
Sebastian stood there, watching her retreating figure with a mix of admiration and frustration. Finally, he turned to his secretary, Felix Wayne, who had been silently observing the exchange. “Tell me, how do you think I could win Riley over?” he asked, his tone tinged with genuine curiosity.
Felix blinked in surprise. As Sebastian’s secretary, he was well aware of his boss’s capabilities and desires. After all, for Sebastian, getting what he wanted was usually a matter of mere persuasion; things seemed to fall into place without him exerting much effort. But now, he was fixated on Riley?
“Well…” Felix chose his words with caution, aware of the delicate nature of the situation. “From what I’ve gathered about Ms. Anderson’s background, she doesn’t seem like someone who can be swayed by money. Although she left the military, that soldier’s pride still runs deep within her.”
Felix had taken it upon himself to investigate Riley’s past, and he knew her history well.
“You’re right, money won’t work with her,” Sebastian mused, his brow furrowing in contemplation. “But what about orders? Would she follow those?”
