Chapter 298 The Insomniac
The three–year gap in his history bothered Riley deeply.
“Can we find photos of Zane from five years ago or earlier?” Riley asked.
If he looks so much like Samuel now, earlier photos of Zane should also resemble Samuel, right?
“Right now, we can only find photos from the past few years. Investigating his history from three years ago will take more time,” Sebastian said.
Riley gritted her teeth. She knew she was being impatient, but this matter concerned her brother.
“Where does he live now? I want to see him,” she said.
No matter what, I need to see him in person to confirm whether he is Samuel or not!
“There’s a banquet tomorrow night. Zane will be there. I can take you as my guest,” Sebastian said.
19kay,” Riley said.

“But you’ll need to attend as my plus–one,” Sebastian added:
Riley paused, then firmly said, “Okay.”
Compared to finding Samuel, nothing else was worth hesitating over.
“Is there anything else? If not, I’d like to get some more sleep,” Riley said, knowing she needed to rest well for
tomorrow.
“Then, can I sleep beside you? I’ll just hold your hand. I won’t do anything you don’t want,” Sebastian said abruptly.
Riley shook her head. “Our current relationship isn’t suitable for that.” Although she appreciated Sebastian’s help, she couldn’t bring herself to be intimate with him again.
He didn’t push further. “Alright, I’ll go back to my room. I won’t barge in like this again.” With that, Sebastian
turned to leave.
“Seb!” Riley called out. “Thank you for your help.” 11:13

“I told you, I’ll give you anything you want,” he murmured.
Except your wish to leave me.
Back in his room, Sebastian took the pills from the bedside drawer and swallowed them. The dosage had been gradually increasing, yet falling asleep grew harder with each night.
Lying in bed, he held a photo of Riley, staring blankly at her radiant smile.
“Riley… I hope I dream of you tonight,” he whispered hoarsely.
Even if it’s only a dream… let her smile at me like that, calling my name softly. Let me imagine we never parted, that we’re still like we used to be.

The next day, Riley showed Vince the documents she received from Sebastian.

could be Samuel,” Vince said, thinking it through.
“That’s why I’m gonna meet Zane face to face at the banquet tonight,” Riley said.
Only by meeting him could she figure it out.
“You’re going to see him?” Vince asked, surprised.
“Yes. Sebastian said Zane will be at a banquet tonight, so I’m going with him,” Riley replied.
“Then I’m coming too!” Vince said immediately.
Riley paused. “But the banquet requires an invitation. You-”
“Just an invitation? That won’t be a problem for me,” Vince said confidently. “Rye, if it’s just about attending the banquet, forget Sebastian. I’ll take you.”
Before Riley could speak, Sebastian cut in. “Mr. Brunson, are you trying to make Riley back out of her word?”
Riley turned to see Sebastian walking over, sliding into the seat next to her like he belonged there.

Vince smirked, “Rye came with me, so shouldn’t she go to the banquet with me?”
As tension built between the two guys, Riley jumped in quickly, “Why don’t we all go together? Or I could just go by myself!”
Vince and Sebastian shared a look, then said in unison, “Then we’ll all go together.”
Riley breathed a sigh of relief.
In the afternoon, Vince went to get the banquet invitation, while Riley followed Sebastian to a local
styling salon to choose a suitable gown. She didn’t bring one with her.
As they walked in, Riley suddenly asked, “Hey, did you not sleep good last night?”
He had dark circles under his eyes.
Sebastian paused. “Are you worried about me?”
Riley pressed her lips together. “No, just asking. Don’t answer if you don’t want to.”

Sebastian stepped closer, voice low and almost teasing. “And what if I said I really didn’t sleep well? Riley… if I told you I’ve been having insomnia ever since you dumped me, would you feel bad for me… forgive me… maybe even hold my hand while I try to sleep?”
Riley stopped, turning to study him seriously. “If you really have insomnia, you should see a doctor.”
