Chapter 340 The Mark
“Ms. Anderson.” Felix’s voice sounded from behind her.
Riley patted Vince again, and only then did he reluctantly release her.
Felix stepped forward. “Now that you’ve arrived safely in Washington, I’ll return and report back.”
“All right,” Riley said.
Felix turned and left.
Lara moved to Riley’s side. “Why did Sebastian not come back with you?”
She had assumed that since Sebastian cared so much about Riley, he would have come with her no matter what.
“We broke up. Something like this won’t happen again,” Riley said.
Lara lifted a brow, immediately sensing that something must have happened on the island.
Vince said, “From now on, I won’t let anything like this happen to you again. If Sebastian ever tries to take you by force, I’ll make sure he pays for it.”

He had been monitoring the Lincolns closely, so the moment Zane reached Washington, he knew. “Rye, if you want to meet Zane, I can arrange it.”
“All right. Thank you,” Riley said.
Vince smiled. “For me, anything that concerns you is never a burden. So, you don’t need to thank me.”
Hearing that, Riley felt a twinge of guilt.
She knew his feelings, but she only saw him as a younger brother, a comrade–in–arms. Nothing more.
“Come on, let’s find a place to eat. It’s almost noon,” Lara said.
The three of them made their way to a well-‘ Washington.

After they sat down and ordered, Vince’s phone rang.
“I’m stepping out to take this,” he said, walking away with the phone.
Lara observed Riley. “Are you really done with Sebastian?”

“Then what is that mark on your neck? It can

Riley froze. It must have been from the night before, left when Sebastian kissed her.
At that moment, Vince finished his call and returned. “What are you two talking about?”
“Nothing…” Riley tugged at her collar, embarrassed.
Her hair was tied up in a ponytail, and her shirt had no high collar to hide the mark.
Vince said nothing, but his eyes drifted briefly to the red imprint on her neck.
Anyone with half a bit of experience would know exactly what it
meant.
She and Sebastian… on the island…
Vince’s hand tightened around his glass.
Fortunately, the dishes began to arrive, breaking the tension.
As they ate, they discussed what had happened in Washington

“I heard Nathan and Logan have completely fallen out. Bryce is planning to sue Bella for collusion and fraud that harmed Murphy Tech. Bella is running everywhere trying to find a lawyer, but no one in Washington will take her case,” Lara said, glancing knowingly at Vince.
No surprise there. With Vince’s maternal family being the influential Morris family, no attorney would risk offending
them.
“People used to think Bryce adored Bella. Look at them now. Everything fell apart,” Lara said with a scoff.
Riley’s expression stayed calm. Hearing about Bryce and Bella no longer stirred anything inside her.

If there was a mark on her neck, there were probly others on her body as well.
Vince hadn’t mentioned it at lunch, which meant he had probably not noticed it.
But a visible red mark on her neck could easily lead to
assumptions.
Riley loosened her hair and let it fall over her shoulders, covering the spot.
As she walked back toward the private dining room, she suddenly saw a group entering the restaurant.
And among them was Zane.
Riley froze and then quickly stepped forward. “Mr. Lincoln, hello. May I speak with you for a moment?”
Zane paused. Before he could answer, Cynt. poke up first, “Of course we’d run into you here. What are you trying to pull this time? Another stupid bloodline game? Pathetic. Don’t tell me you’re trying to cling to the Lincoln family through Zane.”
Riley ignored Cynthia’s mockery and looked directly at Zane. “Could we speak alone for a few minutes?”
