Chapter 368 The Gathering
Benedict snorted coldly, “You’re doing this to have her save that woman lying in the hospital, right? Having a weakness makes you a puppet. Mark my words–you’ll regret this.”
Zane replied calmly, “I’m just repaying a life debt.”
Benedict’s frown deepened, his eyes cutting to Cynthia.

“Don’t embarrass us tonight. One wrong word, one scene, anything that makes the Lincoln name look bad—and I’ll have you thrown out again. Permanently.”
Cynthia quickly responded, “I just want to accompany Zane. I’ll be on my best behavior tonight, I promise.”
Only then did Benedict head towards the banquet hall.
Cynthia and Zane followed behind. Cynthia glared at Benedict’s back, gritting her teeth in resentment.
Benedict is so arrogant, seeing us relatives as nothing but dependents, to be summoned and dismissed at will. All he cares about is finding his sister.
It’s a pity. He still thinks his sister is alive.
But his sister died three years ago, and he will never how that
Zane and Riley are actually his niece and nephew

Those attending the Torres Group anniversary celebration included not only employees but also their suppliers and
partners.
Riley saw many business magnates.
For Lara, this occasion was naturally like a fish in water, allowing her to expand her network.
Riley stayed by Lara’s side, participating in the socializing and networking.
At the designated hour, the venue suddenly quieted down.
Sebastian walked slowly into the venue, dressed in a black suit
with a dark red tie.
The venue’s lights fell on his handsome face, giving him an indescribable air of noble elegance.

doesn’t look like one.”
“It looks just like an ordinary black leather cuff you’d buy at a mall.”
“Mr. Torres would never wear some ordinary mass–produced item from a mall!”
Riley stared somewhat dazedly at that black leather cuff.
Does he really not love me anymore? Then why is he still wearing this cuff? Even the last few times I saw him, he was wearing it.
As if it never leaves his side.
Sebastian walked onto the stage and said expressionlessly, “Welcome to tonight’s celebration, everyone. I wish you all a pleasant time.”
Then he stepped down from the stage, appearing out of place amidst the elegantly dressed, wine–glass–clinking crowd.
Even when many trying to curry favor approached him for conversation, his expression remained indifferent.
His elegant toast–holding, his casual exchanges, gave off a feeling of extreme aloofness.

Are you watching Sebastian?” Lara’s voice sounded abruptly.

“By the way, have you figured it out yet? Quite a few women have their eyes on Sebastian, you know,” Lara asked.
“I…” Riley opened her mouth, only to be cut off by a woman’s voice suddenly rising.
“Some people are so desperate to climb the social ladder, thinking just stepping into this ballroom will magically make them somebody. Pathetic.”
Riley turned to see that the speaker was an unfamiliar woman.
Lara recognized her at a glance.
It was Rose, the young woman who had taken a liking to Shawn at the law firm. Standing beside Rose were two other socialites.
The two were looking at Lara as if watching a joke.
Clearly, their target was Lara.
Riley wanted to retort, but Lara smiled and said, “They’re picking on me. Let me handle it.”
Then, she looked at Rose. “Dirty minds think dirty thoughts. Rose, have you been binging too many trashy dramas? You seriously think powerful men are just sitting around waiting to be seduced?”

“Dirty trick?” Lara arched a brow. “So you’re saying the Torres Group rigged their bidding process?”
She smiled coolly. “My company’s one of their suppliers. Since Sebastian–the chairman himself—is right here, why don’t you go ask him? See if there was really anything shady going on.”
Rose’s face flushed crimson instantly. How dare she ask Sebastian such a thing?
But not wanting to back down, she stubbornly said, “I’m just skeptical. After all, it’s hard to imagine a small company like yours could become a Torres Group supplier.”
“Skeptical?” Lara let out a cold laugh. “Are you even a lawyer? From what you just said, I could sue you for defamation.”
She paused, then added lightly, “I’m not great with the legal stuff, though. I’ll check with Shawn later.”
