Chapter 409 Back Together?
But in the next moment, his hand gripped her jaw again, capturing her lips as he kissed her with greedy, almost desperate intensity—as if trying to prove something.
His other hand slipped around her waist, pulling her into his embrace.
He held her so tightly it felt as though he wanted to fuse them together, to eliminate any space between their bodies.
When the kiss finally ended, Riley heard nothing but their ragged breathing. Both their chests rose and fell as he held her close, his lips against her ear as he whispered roughly, "Riley, don't try to sweet-talk me. I won't be able to hold back."
"I'm not sweet-talking you. I mean every word," she whispered back.
The moment the words left her lips, the world spun around her. He had pushed her down onto the couch, his mouth claiming her earlobe, sending shivers through her entire body.
His lips traced a path downward, finally coming to rest at her collarbone.
"Do you still want me?" he asked suddenly.
His lean body was tense, veins bulging on the back of his hands and at his temples. A thin sheen of sweat had formed on his forehead again.
But unlike before, this sweat wasn't from nightmares—it was from desire.
Riley looked up at him. She could tell that if she said "no," he would suppress all his desire and let her go completely.
This was the first time he'd taken the initiative with her—how could she possibly refuse?
"I want you!" She wrapped one arm around his neck while her other hand began unbuttoning his shirt. Then she lifted his chin and kissed him first, earning an even more passionate response from him.
"Tell me again—that you regret breaking up with me," he said against her skin, his voice breaking with need.
"I regret it," she breathed. "I regret ever walking away from you, Sebastian. I regret it so much..."
She repeated the words like a prayer, hoping they might finally heal whatever was broken inside him so he could stop having those nightmares.
She hoped he could sleep peacefully, not constantly jolted awake by nightmares.
Even more, she didn't want to become the source of those nightmares.
It turned out that being the nightmare of someone you love—that kind of pain was unbearable.
Drip.
A choked sob escaped him as tears welled up and fell onto her, burning against her chest.
Her heart ached.
