**Chapter 46: I Was Just Lucky**
Kieran, who had been lingering in the shadows, couldn’t help but let out a low whistle, the sound escaping his lips like a secret. “Damn, he’s something else, being so young and all that!” His admiration was palpable, and it hung in the air like a sweet perfume.
Bella, however, felt a pang of irritation mixed with a tinge of envy. “Some people are just born with a silver spoon in their mouth, having the perfect setup from the get-go,” she huffed, her tone dripping with disdain. The bitterness rolled off her tongue, revealing her true feelings about the disparity in their lives.
Vince, the sole heir of the illustrious Brunson family, was a product of privilege. His father, a powerful figure in the military, and his mother, a respected academician at a prestigious research institute, had crafted a legacy that loomed large over everyone. The Brunson family had deep roots in the military, while his maternal lineage was filled with esteemed lawyers, a combination that made Vince seem almost untouchable.
In stark contrast stood Bella. Although she bore the Sinclair name, her family’s wealth and business acumen were largely controlled by her uncle’s branch. Her own family, relegated to the second tier, often found themselves scrambling for scraps. She had fought tooth and nail, clawing her way up the social ladder, and after becoming a female co-pilot, she had finally managed to carve out a semblance of respect within the Sinclair family.
Yet, that was not enough. The title of co-pilot, while commendable, did not translate into financial security. She had a good reputation, but the bank account was still lacking.
With steely determination, she set her sights on Bryce.
Murphy Tech had quickly risen to prominence, transforming from a humble startup into a publicly-traded powerhouse in a mere three years. The potential for growth seemed boundless, possibly even eclipsing the Sinclair Group.
A spark of hope ignited in Bella’s heart. *If I can win Bryce over, no one in the Sinclair family will ever look down on me again,* she mused, her mind racing with possibilities.
With purpose, Bella took hold of Bryce’s arm, guiding him towards her uncle, eager to make the introduction. Kieran trailed behind, a broad smile plastered across his face. “Maybe this Mr. Brunson will take a fancy to me and become my friend,” he quipped, his optimism almost childlike.
Bella offered a faint smile, but inside, she scoffed. *Kieran is just Bryce’s poor buddy. If it weren’t for Bryce giving him some business opportunities, he’d probably still be tinkering away as a car mechanic. How dare he dream of befriending Mr. Brunson? It’s laughable.*
Soon, the trio arrived at the private room where Nathan and Vince had settled.
