Divorced CEO's Forgotten Wife Strikes Back (Riley and Bryce) novel Chapter 63

**TITLE: Dreams Refuse Gravity by Leo Arden Knox**

**Chapter 63: I’ll Buy It Back for You**

Claire’s brows knitted together in concern as she studied Bryce’s troubled expression. “Bryce, are you okay?” Her voice was gentle but laced with worry.

Bryce’s grip tightened around the wedding ring, a bitter reminder of what once was. The weight of regret settled heavily on his shoulders, and his face reflected the turmoil within him.

“This is all that bitch Riley’s fault,” Amanda spat, her voice strained through the pain that radiated from her swollen cheeks. Each word was a struggle, a painful reminder of her own hurt. “I told you from the very beginning that marrying someone like her was a mistake.”

“Mom! Enough!” Bryce’s voice rose, a growl of defiance escaping his lips. “Stop badmouthing Riley. We were married for three years, and she never did me wrong!” The truth stung him; it was he who had wronged her. “Everything I have right now? It’s all thanks to her!”

Claire’s disbelief was palpable. “Bryce, are you actually taking Riley’s side? Just because of that 1.53 million dollars?” She scoffed, disbelief coloring her tone. “All she did was give you some startup money. Your success? That came from your own hard work, not hers!”

A heavy silence enveloped the room as Bryce found himself at a loss for words. He had once shared Claire’s perspective, but now, doubts crept into his mind like shadows.

“We’re not officially divorced yet. I’m still her husband. Shouldn’t I stand by her side?” Bryce’s voice was quieter now, tinged with uncertainty.

Claire’s eyes widened in shock. “Bryce, what’s gotten into you? You’ve never taken Riley’s side before!”

The realization struck him like a bolt of lightning. In the course of their marriage, he had never truly supported her. Each time she faced conflict, he had been quick to blame her, never considering her side of the story.

Feeling a rush of guilt and confusion, he blurted out, “How much money do you guys have? Let me borrow some.”

“Bryce, you’re not seriously going to give Riley 1.53 million dollars, are you?” Claire’s voice was laced with disbelief.

“It’s not ‘giving’; it’s ‘paying back,'” he replied, his tone firm. “Whatever you have, just give it to me.”

“I… I don’t have any money!” Claire averted her gaze, her discomfort evident.

Amanda interjected, “I already gave you money when your company was tight. I’m running dry now.”

Truth be told, Amanda had some cash stashed away, but the thought of handing it over to Riley was simply out of the question!

Disappointment washed over Bryce’s face. “Forget it. I’ll figure something else out.” Without another word, he turned on his heel and left the villa, his heart heavy as he set off to find Bella.

“Bella, can you lend me some money?” The words tumbled out of Bryce’s mouth, each one feeling like a weight he could barely bear. “My company’s running on fumes right now, and every penny I’ve got is tied up in there. I can’t come up with 1.53 million dollars in cash.”
