Divorced CEO's Forgotten Wife Strikes Back (Riley and Bryce) novel Chapter 65

**Dreams Refuse Gravity by Leo Arden Knox**

**Chapter 65: I suspect there are prohibited items in her urn**

Riley felt a jolt of surprise when she spotted Bella in the bustling terminal. The sight of her sent a ripple of emotions through Riley, a mix of annoyance and intrigue.

“Of course, she’s here to catch a flight!” Lara interjected sharply, her voice slicing through the tension before Riley could formulate a response. “What’s next? Are passengers supposed to get your approval to be here?”

Bella’s expression dimmed, her eyes narrowing as she confronted Riley. “Weren’t you supposed to be finalizing your divorce from Bryce today? Please tell me you didn’t have a change of heart, Riley. Can’t bear the thought of letting him go?”

“Bryce and I are already divorced,” Riley replied, her tone frosty and unyielding. “From this moment forward, whatever you two choose to do is entirely outside my concern.”

A wave of relief washed over Bella. With Riley and Bryce officially separated, the path was cleared for her to be with Bryce openly, without the shadows of secrecy lurking behind every corner.

Yet, as she caught sight of the icy façade on Riley’s face, an unsettling feeling began to churn in the pit of her stomach.

“Oh, right! You must have your 1.53 million dollars by 10:29 now, don’t you?” Bella shot back, her voice dripping with sarcasm. “You know, I had to pawn my ring so Bryce could pay you back. Maybe a simple thank you is in order, Riley?”

Lara erupted with indignation, her anger palpable. “Thank you? Are you out of your mind? You’re nothing but a homewrecker! Don’t pretend you’re some kind of savior now! How much money have you wrung out of Bryce over the last two years? Perhaps that’s a conversation worth having!”

“Who are you calling a homewrecker? You’d better watch your words!” Bella retorted, her voice rising. “Got any proof? Because I’ll take you to court for defamation!”

With a steely resolve, Riley stood up, her voice laced with frost. “Did you miss yesterday’s press conference? The evidence is all laid out for everyone to see. Bryce squandered 50 million on your jewelry while we were still married. I have every right to file a lawsuit, and half of that jewelry is rightfully mine!”

“What?” Bella froze, her mind racing to process the revelation.

Riley’s voice dripped with sarcasm, her eyes glinting with a mix of triumph and disdain. “So, it’s not me who owes you gratitude. You should be thanking me for not making a fuss about that jewelry situation! But thanks for the reminder. I’ll be filing that lawsuit, and you might just have to return half of it!”

Bella’s face drained of color, her shock evident. Her group of friends began to buzz around her, their whispers sharp and stinging like bees.

Everyone at Cloud Airlines was aware of Bella’s close ties to Bryce from Murphy Tech. They had been envious, believing she had landed a wealthy, handsome partner.

“Oh please, you claim it’s ashes, but how can I be sure? It could be illegal substances for all I know!” Bella scoffed, her voice dripping with skepticism. “And that so-called paperwork? I never received any notification. So, I’m ordering you to hand over that urn right now!”

“And if I refuse?” Riley’s gaze hardened, a steely resolve emanating from her.

“Then I’ll have to assume you’re attempting to bring dangerous materials into the airport, and I’ll confiscate it for a thorough inspection!” Bella declared, grabbing her radio and calling for airport security with a sense of triumph.

Within moments, security officers arrived, their presence commanding attention.

“I suspect there are prohibited items in her urn, and it needs to be confiscated!” Lara informed the security guards, her voice filled with urgency.

One of the guards stepped forward, his demeanor professional yet firm. “Please hand over the urn. If there’s nothing wrong, we’ll return it to you.”

“I’ve already followed the proper procedures. The urn contains my parents’ ashes, and it does not require further inspection,” Riley asserted, her voice unwavering.

“Ms. Sinclair wants it checked, and we’re just here to assist. If you refuse, we will have to confiscate it by force,” the guard stated, his tone leaving no room for negotiation.
