**TITLE: Dreams Refuse Gravity by Leo Arden Knox**
**Chapter 75: Quite Pitiful**
Sebastian’s voice, cool and unyielding, drifted through the phone line. “Yeah, I heard it all.”
Wren’s heart dropped, her breath catching in her throat.
He heard it all? How much exactly did he hear?
And when had this snake managed to make that call? She felt utterly betrayed, realizing how expertly Riley had played her.
A cold sweat broke out on her palms, the clammy sensation creeping up her arms.
Her body went rigid as she caught sight of Sebastian’s tall figure emerging from behind the wall, his presence commanding and intimidating.
Riley, with a smirk playing on her lips, tucked her phone away and addressed Sebastian directly. “Since you’ve heard everything, Mr. Torres, I suppose you understand I’m not the villain here.”
Earlier, when Wren had blocked Riley’s path, a sense of unease had washed over her. In a moment of instinct, she had discreetly called Sebastian, a decision that had ultimately saved her from being framed in this twisted game.
“Good thing I did,” she thought, her mind racing with relief.
“Are you serious? You set me up on purpose!” Wren spat, her beautiful features contorting with fury, her eyes blazing with indignation.
“None of this would have occurred if you hadn’t tried to sabotage me,” Riley replied, her tone flat and devoid of emotion, as if she were discussing the weather rather than a confrontation.
Fueled by rage, Wren lunged at Riley once more, but Sebastian stepped in front of her, blocking her path with an unwavering stance. “Don’t you dare lay a finger on my people!” His voice was cold, a warning laced with authority.
He fixed Wren with a piercing gaze, his eyes narrowing at her left eye. “If you use your eyes as a weapon again, don’t blame me for breaking my old promise.”
Wren stood frozen, the weight of his words crashing over her like a wave. After what felt like an eternity, she managed to whisper, “I… I understand.”
Sebastian took Riley by the arm and began to lead her away, leaving Wren standing there, her eyes burning with a mix of hatred and bitterness as she watched their retreating figures.
Years ago, she had almost sacrificed her eye for Sebastian, all in exchange for his promise to protect her family’s future.
She had paid so dearly just to be near him.
How was it that this woman, this interloper, could stroll beside him without any consequence?
No way was she going to let this stand!
