Divorced CEO's Forgotten Wife Strikes Back (Riley and Bryce) novel Chapter 86

**TITLE: Dreams Refuse Gravity by Leo Arden Knox**

**Chapter 86: Reflection**

Quinten’s gaze pierced through the air like daggers aimed at Vincent and Wren. His voice thundered, “You two! Apologize!”

Vincent and Wren recoiled as if struck by an electric shock, their eyes wide with disbelief.

“Grandpa, what… why are you making us apologize out of nowhere?” Vincent stammered, grappling for the right words amidst his confusion.

“Don’t you think you should apologize for what you did today?” Quinten shot back, his tone sharp, as if he were trying to cut through their excuses.

“Great-grandpa, how was I supposed to know Riley was really from the fifth branch? What if she’s just making it up? So many people try to fake being related to us. How could I possibly tell the difference?” Vincent’s voice rose, a mixture of frustration and defensiveness bubbling to the surface.

“Well, you could’ve just asked! You might not know her, but your uncles do!” Quinten snapped, his patience fraying like an old rope. The tension in the room was palpable, thick enough to cut with a knife.

At that moment, Bob burst through the door, his expression a mask of urgency and concern.

A few staff members had reached out to him, their voices laced with alarm, urging him to return immediately.

When he received the call, a chill raced down his spine. The fifth branch was a distant memory for him; he had only encountered them a handful of times at clan sacrifices or family gatherings long ago. Yet, he was well aware of the legacy they carried.

In the Anderson family, the fifth branch was synonymous with patriotism and valor—a lineage that had faced tremendous losses, their sacrifices echoing through the annals of history. Now, only Riley remained, a solitary figure bearing the weight of her family’s legacy.

Initially, Bob had believed Wren would manage Riley with grace, allowing him the luxury of a worry-free evening. He never anticipated that Wren would create such chaos.

As soon as Quinten caught sight of Bob, his fury erupted. He hurled his cane at Bob, the wooden stick flying through the air like a missile. “You’ve got some nerve showing up! Weren’t you supposed to meet Riley at the hall today? What were you doing? And why didn’t you tell us in advance?”

If Bob had simply communicated with the family, this entire debacle could have been avoided. It should have been a grand family welcome, a moment of joy and reunion. Instead, Riley had been shut out, forced to battle her way into a place that should have embraced her.
