Earlier that day.
"You deny it, yet there is proof!" Beatrice was fuming as she showed Mara the receipts of the pawned items found in their apartment. "These are two Rolex watches, matching the same description as Brian's! You stole them and pawned them! Where are the rest?"
"I don't know what you are talking about," Mara responded. "Those Rolex watches were gifts from my other friends, and we pawned them. They don't belong to Brian!"
Mara was on her knees, being cuffed by the police in the living room of their flat. Her rights were already read when Beatrice came at her after finding the receipts for the pawned watches.
"Beatrice, just because we are poor, you can accuse us of being thieves," Claire's sister, Carrie, said while crying in one corner.
"Police officer, I'm being set up. I am not part of the lending ring as you accused me," Mara pleaded. "This woman, Beatrice Martin, is setting me up just because she borrowed money from the loan sharks and did not want to pay!"
"Unfortunately for you, Mara Monet, some members of your syndicate had surrendered and named you one of their co-conspirators. That and a lot more," the officer said. "Get up. It's time to go to the station."
"Mrs. Martin," another police officer called. "We found these under the bed in the second bedroom. Do these belong to your son?"
Beatrice's eyes widened as she stared at the Omega and Cartier watches. She inspected them, and after finding the engraving under the watches, she sighed and said, "Yes, these are my son's watches!"
"We will submit these as evidence for now. After processing, they will be returned to your son," the officer said, and Beatrice nodded. Thank you, officer. There are still other items that we think they have stolen."
"We will keep looking," the police said.
Now that she had more solid proof, Beatrice turned to Mara and glared at her. She said, "My son will sue you and your daughter for theft!"
Just as she said those words, Claire arrived at the scene. She cried and begged the officers not to take her mother, but she could not do anything.
Beatrice said, "Your mother first, and then you are next."
"What are you doing? You can't do this!" Claire screamed at the police. "This is a classic example of the rich stepping down on the poor! You can't just do everything this woman says!"
"I'm sorry, Maam, but we have a search warrant to check your apartment for any stolen items from the Martins," one officer said. Please take a seat on the sofa with your sister. You cannot roam the house while the search is ongoing."
"But, guess what, Claire? The police found the Cartier and Omega watches you had stolen, so Brian will be suing you for that!" Beatrice declared.
Claire's eyes widened in horror while Beatrice laughed. She said, "So, cut the act of playing innocent being abused by the rich. There is nothing innocent about you!"
All Claire and her sister could do was watch as the officers turned their home upside down and inspected every corner of it.
Beatrice waited to see how many things would be found. After three hours of searching the apartment, the police found items that Beatrice and Brian had not even noticed she had lost to Mara or Claire, including her bottle of perfume, which she thought she had misplaced during Brian and Claire's wedding. Sure, Mara could have bought the same brand and consumed half of it in a few days, but it was just too much of a coincidence.
Bank passbooks were also found. The police noted they had over two million dollars in savings. Beatrice muttered, "Some of these must have been the sale to the condo."

At Anthony's home.
They were having dinner when Tonet noticed Anthony's smile. She asked, "What are you happy about?"
"Riley is pregnant," Anthony said. "I'm going to be a grandfather."
Tonet and Fredrick stared at each other in shock. Tonet wanted to react negatively, but she had learned the hard way that her position was being threatened since Adrian was slowly connecting with Anthony. Thus, she faked a smile and said, "Oh, how nice."
Later, she and Fredrick regrouped in her room. Tonet said, "We have to do something. Do you realize that Abner will soon give his shares to Adrian now that Riley is pregnant?"
"Adrian is going to threaten our positions in the company!" Tonet pointed out.
"What are we supposed to do, Mom? Adrian has people following us!" Fredrick pointed out.
A hiss left Tonet's lips. After that incident with Lucy Smith, she looked into it. She discovered that Adrian was closely monitoring them, especially while still investigating his accident.
"Remember that file on Riley?" Tonet asked with a smirk. "I know exactly what to do. First, a distraction."
