Divorced the Cheat Married the Fleet (Camilla and Lance) novel Chapter 291

Of course, the police weren't about to just take Davina's side because she said so. Tension was rising, and it looked like Davina and Rosalia were seconds away from tearing into each other. Newell, clearly fed up, gave the signal and a few officers moved in, separating them and escorting both women away. Camilla and Bonnie followed, heading to the station to give their statements.

But the ride over was anything but calm. Davina and Rosalia kept snapping at each other, the back-and-forth relentless. Davina was sharp-tongued and ruthless, accusing Rosalia of jealousy, of setting her up on purpose. Rosalia got more and more worked up, unable to keep up with Davina’s quick words, her temper barely contained.

Surrounded by police, it seemed like Rosalia’s fear would keep her in check, but somehow it only made her bolder. The moment they got out of the car, she snapped. She lunged at Davina, reaching straight for her face, nails out and voice raw. “You little snake! You begged me for help and now you want to pin this on me? Just wait, you’ll regret it!”

Davina screamed as Rosalia’s untrimmed nails dug into her cheek, leaving a long, angry red line. It took Davina a second to really register the pain. She reached up to her face, drew her hand back, and saw blood smeared across her fingers. Another scream erupted from her, louder than before. “You hit me in the face! What’s wrong with you? I swear this isn’t over!”

Davina, who usually played the delicate damsel in front of Barnard, dropped the act completely. Furious, she rolled up her sleeves and jumped right in, fighting Rosalia toe to toe.

The two of them were a mess, but Davina was at a clear disadvantage, her frame too slight compared to Rosalia’s strength. After just a couple rounds, Rosalia had gotten the upper hand again, adding new scratches to Davina’s expensive face.

Frantic now, Davina stopped fighting and tried to cover her face with one hand, calling out desperately to Daisy, who stood frozen and wide-eyed nearby. “Why are you just standing there? Do something! Help me!”

The sight of Davina’s ruined face finally jolted Daisy out of her shock. She tried to rush in and separate the two women, but what could a child do when even an adult like Davina wasn’t a match for Rosalia? Daisy barely got close before Rosalia’s elbow caught her, knocking her straight to the ground. Daisy let out a shaky little cry that quickly turned into full-blown sobs.

Outside the station, everything had descended into chaos. It was so noisy and wild that it felt more like a rowdy market than an entrance to a police station. The officers looked thrown. Scenes like this just didn’t usually happen downtown. Newell tried to step in, but Rosalia’s elbow kept him at bay. With neither woman being truly dangerous, force wasn’t really an option, so the police kept trying to talk sense into them.

It didn’t work. Davina and Rosalia had both totally lost their tempers. Davina, realizing she wouldn’t win in a straight-up fight, switched tactics and went for Rosalia’s hair. Rosalia wasn’t about to back down either and started yanking at Davina’s clothes, stretching them until buttons popped off.
