Divorced the Cheat Married the Fleet (Camilla and Lance) novel Chapter 299

Lance pointed toward the door. “Alright, Sarah, you’ve met everyone now. No need to stick around and get in the way.”

Sarah shot him an exaggerated look. “Seriously? I haven’t even had a chance to talk to Camilla yet. Lance, you invited me out for dinner. If you send me away before I’ve had a single bite, I’m telling Tessa when I get back.” She moved a little closer to Camilla, radiating playful energy. Tessa, of course, was Lance’s mom.

Lance’s eyes turned icy as he glared at her.

Camilla gently stepped in. “Lance, you said we’re all having dinner together. It’s not a big deal if Sarah stays. You don’t need to be so harsh.”

Sarah perked up right away, resting her head on Camilla’s shoulder, a mischievous grin aimed straight at Lance. “See that? Camilla’s protecting me. You can’t push me around anymore.”

Lance’s eyebrows drew together, his glare never leaving Sarah. “Get your head off her. Camilla’s had a long day. She’s not your pillow.”

Sarah rolled her eyes and stuck out her tongue. “Are you jealous or something? What’s with the attitude, Lance? For a grown man, you sure act petty. Besides, Camilla doesn’t seem to mind. Maybe she actually likes having me close.”

Camilla had thought, with Sarah’s pretty, put-together look, she would have a gentle personality. Now, she could see how lively and playful she really was.

After that, Sarah doubled down, nudging closer and batting her eyes at Camilla. “Camilla, you’re way less petty than Lance, right?”

Camilla glanced up, catching the impatience on Lance’s face. She cleared her throat. “Come on, Lance. I’m not that fragile, and Sarah hasn’t done anything wrong.”

Lance looked annoyed that even Camilla was taking Sarah’s side, but he eventually turned away, helping Jasper with his food, clearly sulking.

Noticing that, Sarah couldn’t resist another jab, teasing him until he shot her a glacial glare.

Throughout dinner, Sarah was the life of the conversation, chattering away to Camilla about all the ways Lance mistreated her. Sometimes she complained about being alone since she seldom came home, and Lance wouldn’t lend her his car. Other times, she whined that he never introduced her to any of his friends.

Eventually, she pulled out her phone and slid it across to Camilla, grinning even as Lance looked like he might explode. “There, Camilla, we’re friends now. I’ll be texting you to go shopping. Hope you don’t find me too clingy.”
