Divorced the Cheat Married the Fleet (Camilla and Lance) novel Chapter 383

Darwin didn't stay at the hospital much longer. In the end, Tessa was the only one left by Sarah's side.

The paternity test results arrived first thing the next morning. Staring at the bold letters confirming a positive biological match, Darwin looked thoroughly dazed.

It was Lance's son.

It was actually his flesh and blood. No wonder—no wonder when he first saw the boy, even through his cloud of prejudice, he had felt an inexplicable sense of familiarity.

That boy was a true descendant of the Charles family.

Which meant all the vicious rumors about Camilla and Jasper were pure slander.

Camilla had been with Lance over five years ago.

The truth crashed over him like a tidal wave, leaving his mind in utter turmoil.

When the butler delivered the report, he also brought Nichol into the room. "Lance previously had Nichol run a paternity test," the butler explained. "He has something to tell you."

The study doors clicked shut, and the atmosphere in the room instantly grew heavy. Darwin fixed a dark, penetrating stare on the doctor.

"What exactly did Lance tell you back then?" Darwin demanded.

"At the time, Lance said that regardless of the actual outcome, there was only one result he wanted to see. He even paid me off. Honestly, I assumed Jasper wasn't his.

But when I ran the test, the results proved they were a biological match.

I thought I'd made a mistake, so I ran it again. The outcome was identical.

I figured I had just misunderstood what Lance wanted. But later, Sarah tracked me down. She kept fishing for information, insinuating that Jasper wasn't his.

I had the absolute proof right in front of me, so I couldn't just let her spout nonsense. We got into an argument, and I ended up giving her the test results."

Ever since Nichol saw Darwin's men at the hospital requesting a new test, he realized something was terribly wrong. Terrified of withholding information, he spilled every detail of what had happened that day.

The moment Sarah's name was mentioned, Darwin's expression darkened dangerously.

"And then?" Darwin pressed. "Why was I never informed of this?"

Having ruthlessly navigated the corporate world for decades, Darwin was incredibly sharp. Even before Nichol had arrived, he had pieced it together. Knowing Lance's arrogant personality, if he had known for sure Jasper was his son, he would have paraded it everywhere. He would have marched straight into the Charles Estate just to rub it in Darwin's face.

The fact that Lance hadn't done so meant he still believed the boy wasn't his.

Lance already adored the boy. If he found out Jasper was biologically his, he would be absolutely ecstatic.

Darwin hesitated, a calculated gleam flashing in his eyes. Finally, he shook his head. "Don't tell him just yet. Go find out what the boy likes to do and what his daily routine is. Buy some toys and clothes he'd like. I'm going to pay him a visit."

He had forcefully opposed Lance's relationship with Camilla before. The boy wasn't a toddler anymore; he was old enough to understand things. He probably resented him right now.

If Lance found out the truth right now, knowing his temper, he would shield the kid like a treasure, mock Darwin for his ignorance, and completely block any chance of Darwin bonding with his great-grandson.

There was no way Darwin was going to let that happen.

He needed to win his precious great-grandson over while Lance was still in the dark. He could also use the opportunity to smooth things over with Camilla. He would orchestrate a flawless family reunion before anyone even knew what hit them.

As for Lance...

Blood ties couldn't be altered anyway. He'd just let Lance figure it out last, right after he finished spoiling his great-grandson rotten.

The butler noticed the cunning spark in Darwin's eyes and gave a subtle shake of his head. Choosing not to ruin the old man's good mood, he stepped out to make the arrangements.

Just before he closed the door, Darwin called out, "That man we detained yesterday—have someone rough him up a bit and throw him out. Lance will know how to handle the rest."
