Iris was truly tired of dealing with them. Her attitude was firm-she refused to let them stay any longer. She really didn’t want to lay eyes on them again.
Meanwhile, after leaving Iris’ house, Quinn decided to tell Peyton the news as soon as possible.
After all, Iris’ matter was urgent, and he’d been pressing her for an update these past few days.
“Peyton, I went to see your grandma today,” Quinn said over the phone. “I actually talked to her about the surgery a few days ago, but she refused then. I thought she needed more time to think, so I didn’t push it. I told her I’d come back today to let her make the final call.
“She told me she’s made up her mind-she still doesn’t want the surgery. The risk is too high, and she’s already so old. She doesn’t want to go through all the trouble. Honestly, I think she has a point.
“I’ve really done everything I can. I even looked up some medical information. I get where you’re coming from, but your grandma is elderly. I think we should respect her wishes. But the final call is still yours. If you want to talk to her again, I’ll go with you.”
This was a major decision-one that could affect Iris’ life. At her age, surgery was definitely high-risk. So Quinn wanted to leave the choice to Peyton.
She’d actually guessed this outcome beforehand. She knew Iris would never agree. Iris hated bothering others, and she didn’t want to stir up trouble.
“I knew Grandma wouldn’t agree,” Peyton sighed. “The surgery isn’t as risky as it used to be-it’s just a minimally invasive procedure. But her body is really fragile. I need to think about this more.”
Deep down, he couldn’t give up. He’d seen how much pain Iris was in-shortness of breath, chest tightness, constant discomfort.
She was like family to him. He couldn’t bear to watch her suffer like this, especially at her age.
“You handle your grandma’s situation,” Quinn urged gently. “Let me know if you need anything. I wa to have the surgery too-if it could make her better. But we have to understand how she feels. We see things from her perspective.”
