Chapter 219 I’ll Make Them Pay for This

Peyton looked at Iris’ unwavering expression and knew he’d made up her mind.

“Okay, Grandma. If this is your decision, I won’t push you,” he said gently. “But you have to promise me one thing-take your medicine on time. Don’t slack off. Your health isn’t something to joke about.

“If anything happens at home, don’t get upset or worry. I’ll handle it all. I could even step down from the company, hand over control to them. But whatever you heed me to do, I’ll give it my all. I’ll never say no to you.

“I never cared about the company. I never wanted to inherit anything. I just want you to be safe, to stay by my side.”

“I know you never asked for any of this,” Iris replied softly. “But I have to leave the company to you. Only you can make me feel at ease. I know it’s unfair-you’re under so much pressure. But I need you to help me get through this.

“This is my choice, and I’m sticking to it. Nothing will change my mind.”

Her voice was firm. Even if her two sons opposed it, she never considered giving the company to anyone else-certainly not to them.

She knew her sons too well. If they got their hands on the company, they’d drain it dry within a year. It would collapse completely. They’d never cherish the legacy she’d built with a lifetime of hard work. They’d never understand her intentions.

“Since you’ve said so, I won’t argue,” Peyton said. “Don’t worry-I’ll manage the company well. But you have to promise to take care of yourself. Don’t let these things ruin your health.”

Peyton worried about her deeply. When he’d found out he wasn’t blood-related to the family, he’d been heartbroken. He’d thought he could never be her grandson again. But she’d trusted him without hesitation, treated him like family.
