Chapter 215 You’re the Problem
“Enough with the nonsense,” Harold snapped. “Mom’s in bad shape as it is. Shut your mouth. I’m not bringing you here anymore. I don’t want to see Mom ge upset by us every single day.”
Truth was, Harold never wanted to come to the house in the first place. Donna always forced him to tag along.
“I do all this for you!” Donna shot back, her voice sharp. It’s because you’re useless that we’re in this mess. If Iris trusted you enough to hand over the company, we wouldn’t be stuck like this.
“You’ve seen how she is now. If something happens to her, the company’ll fall into someone else’s hands for good. Are you really okay with that? This is your family legacy. Do you want an outsider to take it?
“If you’d just man up and take the company, we wouldn have to run around like this. We wouldn’t have to deal with Iris at all. Everything I do is for you, for our family. When Iris’ gone, you’ll regret it. We’ll have nothing left. What about our son? Don’t you care about him?”
Donna spoke bluntly, her resolve unwavering.
Their fights had grown worse lately, always over the family’s troubles.
Sometimes, Harold felt sorry for Iris. But her words cut deep. He thought she didn’t care about him. anymore-that she’d turned her back on her own son.
Yet every time he said something cruel, he felt guilty. He hated how he couldn’t face her. But the thought of losing the company tore him up inside.
He was a man torn in two. Sometimes, he lost sight of what mattered-even his own mother.
He’d realized even with Brandon back, they couldn’t change Iris’ mind. She was firm in her choice, cold to their pleas. She’d handed the company to an outsider, and nothing they said would change that.
