Chapter 218 Tender Persuasion
“I’m really fine-you two are making a big fuss,” Leo said gently. “You’re my best friend. I’d tell you if something was wrong.”
His gaze on Quinn was warm, his tone firm. They were usiness partners now. Having an excuse to keep her close was enough. He’d never asked for more.
It had been ages since they’d hung out like they used to dining together, grabbing drinks, chatting for hours. Once, their friendship had been so strong.
But after Quinn’s last relationship, everything changed. A wall had gone up between them, and neither had the courage to tear it down.
Most of all, she now had a new relationship, a new life. He didn’t want to intrude, didn’t want to ruin what she had.
“I’ll head out then.”
As Quinn left, she gave Mia a meaningful look-urging her to make the most of this chance, to prove herself.
Mia understood immediately. Since their last conversation, she’d grown bolder, more confident.
She knew opportunities like this were rare.
If I like him, I should say so openly. Maybe he hasn’t noticed m feelings because we’ve never really spent time together. I’ve always been too nervous around him, too afraid to meet his eyes.
If I truly care, why not fight for it?
