Don't Mess with the Girl with Candy novel Chapter 1484

Playing the martyr?

Harold took the words in and silently memorized them.

At the entrance of the villa.

Theia and Silas had prepared a mountain of gifts for Lorelei.

Most of them were intended for Harold's adoptive parents and old Mrs. Bellamy.

"Thank you, Mom, Dad. You're so thoughtful," Lorelei said, deeply touched.

"We're glad."

Theia patted Lorelei's hand, her voice gentle. "As long as you're happy, we support whatever you do. We will always be your parents."

"Yeah."

Lorelei nodded, a hint of sadness in her expression. She knew they were subtly referring to the impending divorce.

Theia then shot a glare at Harold, dropping her voice to a fierce whisper. "I adore Lori. I don't care what you have to do, you better not lose her."

"I won't."

Harold nodded, his tone dead serious. "I'm going to do everything I can."

He wanted to lose Lorelei less than anyone else in the world.

Two days later.

The Schwartz Group's private jet touched down at Australis Airport.

After several days of rest, coupled with Juniper's custom-formulated medication, Lorelei was finally able to walk on her own, albeit slowly.

"Mr. Houston."

The Houston family's bodyguards were waiting respectfully by the exit. "Mrs. Houston."

"Head to the house first," Harold instructed firmly as he got into the car.

"Aren't we going to see your parents first?" Lorelei turned her head to ask.

"We just got off a long flight. Rest first." Harold took off his jacket and draped it over her. "It won't matter if we see them a little later."

"Oh."

Lorelei didn't question his decision. She was genuinely exhausted, leaning back against the seat and closing her eyes for a nap.

The drive back was quite long, and Lorelei unknowingly drifted off to sleep.
