Don't Mess with the Girl with Candy novel Chapter 1942

Odom is Channing?

Just as this alarming thought crept into her head, a knock on the door broke her train of thought.

"Ms. Quill, we have news on Mr. Irving!" the manager exclaimed excitedly. "Thank goodness, he's perfectly fine."

"Where is he?"

Coralie furrowed her brows, asking quietly.

"Bali."

The manager walked in and placed a stack of photos on the desk. "Mr. Irving said he finally had some time off, so he took Mrs. Covington on a vacation. These are the photos they took."

Most of them were solo shots of Mrs. Covington.

The older lady was dressed in vibrant resort wear, sporting a radiant smile and looking absolutely thrilled.

Coralie flipped toward the back of the stack.

Finally, in the very last photo, she spotted Channing.

He was lounging on a beach chair, eyes closed. It seemed to be a candid shot, capturing only his sharp, chiseled profile.

His brows were knitted together, and he looked incredibly grumpy.

That was definitely that bastard. No doubt about it.

So...

Odom wasn't Channing?

If that was the case, Odom had put an unbelievable amount of effort into mimicking his flawless service.

"Ms. Quill, I spoke with Mr. Irving on the phone. He asked if there was anything urgent going on here," the manager said earnestly, standing at attention. "So I told him that you missed him."

"Cough, cough, cough..."

Coralie, who had been sipping her strawberry milkshake, nearly choked. Blushing furiously, she pointed a trembling finger at the manager and stammered, "Who told you to say that? When did I ever say I missed him?"

"My apologies, Ms. Quill." The manager belatedly realized his mistake and braced himself for a scolding. "You were just so desperate to find out where he went, I naturally assumed you missed him."

Coralie's lips parted slightly as if something were caught in her throat, her face flushed with indignation. "If you ever spout nonsense like that to him again, you can pack your bags and get lost with him."

"Yes, ma'am!"

Terrified to say another word, the manager bowed hastily and fled the office.

The door shut behind him.

The manager scurried over to the adjacent emergency stairwell and carefully studied the 'middle-aged man' waiting in the shadows. "Mr. Irving, I replied to Ms. Quill exactly as you instructed. She didn't suspect a thing."

"Thanks." Channing nodded, pulling out a bank card and handing it over.
