Don't Mess with the Girl with Candy novel Chapter 1944

"Cough, cough, cough..."

Rocco was mid-sip when he heard her outrageous comment.

The multi-million-dollar vintage instantly tasted like vinegar.

What the hell?

He was a straight man—why would he have a crush on Channing?

That good-looking stray dog was only appealing to someone like Coralie.

"Careful there, Rocco," Coralie drawled, her red lips curving upward lazily. "Don't tell me you're getting flustered because you actually do have a crush on him?"

She hadn't bothered lowering her voice, and the surrounding patrons immediately shot him bizarre looks.

"Ms. Quill, stop spreading ridiculous rumors!" Rocco's face darkened, his words squeezing through gritted teeth. "I'm here to discuss real business with you."

"Then spit it out."

Coralie leaned back, her gaze cool and detached. "I'm busy. Make it quick."

——

Inside the private lounge.

Coralie and Rocco sat facing each other, the tension thick between them.

"I heard you've got your eye on Lot No. 5 in the suburbs?"

Rocco finally got to the point.

"What about it?"

Coralie looked up slightly, her expression hardening.

The Haven Orphanage had been demolished years ago, replaced by towering skyscrapers.

For years, she had been searching for the perfect plot of land, hoping to rebuild the orphanage.

Lot No. 5 was in a prime location, nestled near the mountains and a river, boasting gorgeous scenery.

However, the land was owned by the Caelus government and hadn't been put on the market.

Recently, rumors spread that it was finally opening up for bidding.

"What a coincidence. I've got my eye on that exact same plot."

Rocco smirked, leaning forward with a triumphant gleam in his eye. "I plan to buy it and build a massive crematorium. What do you think of that, Ms. Quill?"

A crematorium?
