Chapter 347 Live
Upon seeing this, Emily was completely at a loss. She turned to Michael and said, “Mr. Winslow, give Vanessa some space.”
Then, the group left the room together.
In the living room, Emily paced back and forth restlessly.
No matter how she thought about it, she just couldn’t stop worrying about Vanessa.
So, she quietly tiptoed to the bedroom door and gently pushed it open.
As the door swung open, she let out a startled scream. “Vanessa, what on earth are you doing?”
With that, she rushed into the room.
There, Vanessa was holding a knife and slashing at her own arm with all her might.
Immediately, blood started to gush out.
Emily’s heart skipped a beat. Without hesitation, she reached out and grabbed the blade with her bare hand.
Fearing that Vanessa might snatch it back, she ignored the searing pain as the blade cut into her palm. She held on tightly, and blood trickled down between her fingers, staining everything.
Vanessa was shocked. Looking at Emily with concern, she stammered, “E–Emily, let go.”
Emily firmly replied, “No way.”
Tears streaming down her face, Vanessa said painfully, “Emily, just let me end it. What’s the point of me living?”
With tears welling up in her eyes, Emily said, “You still have me. What would I do if something happened to you?”
Just then, Alexander and Michael rushed in, both looking worried.
Seeing that Vanessa seemed to be influenced by Emily’s words, Michael chimed in, “I’m here, too.”
Hearing this, Alexander scoffed disdainfully.
All he could focus on was Emily’s injury.
So, he said to Vanessa harshly, “If you want to die, go ahead. But think about it. Derek will be free. No one will seek justice for you. Besides Emily, who’ll be heartbroken, I won’t care at all.”
Alexander’s words really hit Vanessa hard.
Angrily, Emily turned around and said to Alexander, “Alexander, stop it.”
Michael understood Alexander’s intention, but he also worried that Alexander’s way might make things worse.
Vanessa still held the knife handle tightly, and blood was still dripping from Emily’s hand.
Ignoring Emily, Alexander raised his voice at Vanessa. “You’ve got time to turn the knife on your best friend. Why don’t you use that time to collect evidence and put Derek behind bars for longer? If I were you, Derek would be in cuffs by now, instead of you sitting here crying and hugting others. If I were going to die, I’d make sure he7:30 paid the price first.”
Unable to stop Alexander from “adding fuel to the fire“, Emily could only look at Vanessa anxiously, hoping she’d take Alexander’s words to heart.
Harsh as they were, they made sense.
Vanessa stared blankly ahead, lost in thought.
Slowly, as if she’d really listened, she let go of the knife.
