Don't Say You Love Me (Emily Carter and Ethan Wilson) novel Chapter 348

Chapter 348 Living Parallel Lives

A vast expanse of pink blossoms unfurled, like a soft, rosy cloud blanketing the ground. A gigantic screen nearby played a montage of memories, while balloons and streamers danced merrily in the wind.

In the midst of this idyllic scene, a young man was making his way through the flowers, his arms cradling a magnificent bouquet of red roses. The girl, standing gracefully in the heart of the floral haven, awaited his approach with bated breath.

As the man reached her and presented the roses, he took a deep breath and picked up the microphone.

With the support of their friends and family cheering him on, found the courage to pour out his heart.

“Baby, I know this might seem sudden, and I might not be the smoothest talker. But I can’t let this moment pass. I love you more than anything, and I want to spend the rest of my life with you, having those simple, wonderful days we’ve always dreamed of. Will you marry me?”

The crowd erupted into a chorus of “Say yes! Say yes!”

Blushing furiously, the girl nodded shyly. “Yes, I do,” she whispered, her voice barely audible over the excitement.

The man slipped a ring onto her finger, and they embraced tightly, sharing a tender kiss that seemed to seal their future together.

The warmth and love in the air were almost palpable, and it was too much for her to bear. Her eyes welled up with tears as she thought about her own five–year marriage.

It had been a one–sided affair. She had always been the one giving, the one trying to create moments of magic, while Ethan had never once surprised her or added a touch of romance to their relationship.

It felt as if they were living parallel lives, with no real connection.

Noticing her distress, Alexander leaned over and murmured, “Don’t cry. Your future’s gonna be so much brighter than this. You deserve the best.”

Emily wiped away her tears and turned to leave. But as she did, her eyes locked with Ethan’s across the crowd.

Amid the bustling crowd, Ethan’s eyes zeroed in on Emily.

Neither of them uttered a word. Emily’s face was streaked with tears, and her eyes were full of grievances.

As for Ethan, his eyes were as calm as still water. When looking at Emily, it was as if she were a complete stranger to him.

Alexander quickly sensed Emily’s stillness and followed her gaze.

In an instant, he stepped in front of her, shielding her from Ethan’s sight.

Ethan saw it all and let out a sneering laugh. His mockery cut deep into Emily’s heart.

She didn’t push Alexander away. Instead, she continued to look at Ethan, seeing the contempt in his eyes.

It was like a knife stabbing at her soul.

After the proposal, the crowd started to disperse.

Andrew, who had been observing from a distance, walked over to Ethan. When he saw Emily and Alexander, the atmosphere immediately turned frosty.

Andrew opened his mouth to say something, but then thought better of it and closed it again.

Once the crowd had dispersed a bit more, Andrew finally shifted his gaze from Alexander’s hand resting on Emily’s waist.

He cranked up the volume and fired a question at Ethan. “So, Ethan, what’s the deal? When’re you gonna pop the question to Nancy?”

Ethan was no dummy; he understood Andrew’s game and had been watching the whole scene unfold.
