Nerissa glanced down for a moment, looked at Anna, and said calmly, “I’m a senior in high school this year. I haven’t even started college yet.”
‘Hasn’t even gone to college?
Anna nearly laughed out loud when she heard that.
‘No college? That basically makes her a nobody!
‘Just some uneducated brat, and she still dares to act all high and mighty in front of me!
‘What a shameless brat, Anna thought,’ rolling her eyes.
Sean chimed in, “Dr. Jamison, you must have studied under someone really famous, right?”
“My mentor is indeed very skilled,” Nerissa replied with a slight nod.
Anna’s brows furrowed almost imperceptibly at her words.
‘Seriously, what’s wrong with these Berensons?
“This blonde kid just admitted she hasn’t even gone to college, and they still haven’t kicked her out?
‘Do they really think Nerissa is some hotshot doctor from a fancy background?’ Anna scoffed to herself.
Honestly, Anna had to admit.
The Berensons were even more clueless than Anna had expected.
Looks like when push comes to shove, she’d have to be the one to call Nerissa out for who she really is.
Thinking that, Anna squinted her eyes.
“You’re just a kid who hasn’t even set foot in college. Why should we believe you can save Mrs. Berenson? Even Divine Doctor’s own disciple can’t pull off Needle Crossing-do you really think you can? Besides, Mrs. Berenson is a woman of status. If something goes wrong while you’re treating her, who’s going to answer for it?” Anna said with a sneer.
Harvey had always been fond of Nerissa, treating her like his own.
Seeing Anna openly trying to give Nerissa a hard time, Harvey jumped to her defense without hesitation.
“Ms. Bailey, Dr. Jamison is a distinguished guest invited by our family. Even we, the Berensons, have never doubted her abilities. So please, mind your words and show some respect!” Harvey said.
His last words carried extra weight.
‘Who does Anna think she is, anyway?’ Harvey thought with disdain.
If it weren’t for Mrs. Sullivan’s sake, Harvey would’ve kicked Anja out ages ago.
But now, with Mrs. Berenson stuck in bed and Leo basically a vegetable, the family had no choice but to give Mrs. Sullivan
some face.
After all, until Arie turned up, Anna was the only heir the Sullivan family had.
Anna stood there, stunned, her face drained of all color.

‘What is Harvey doing?
‘I’m just looking out for Mrs. Berenson’s safety!’ Anna fumed inwardly.

Anyone with half a brain could see Nerissa was just a fraud, and yet Harvey was actually scolding her for trying to expose
her.
‘Harvey really doesn’t know what’s good for him,’ Anna thought, her frustration boiling over.
Before Anna could even say anything, Jasper spoke up, “Dr. Jamison, don’t pay any attention to what Ms. Bailey says. She’s just a guest here. The rest of us brothers trust you, no question.”
“Yeah,” the other brothers chimed in, nodding.
Basically, Anna was just an outsider.
Honestly, Nerissa had no reason to care about anything Anna said.
Anna was left completely dumbfounded.
‘Why her?
‘How come Nerissa gets the Berensons’ trust so easily, without even doing anything?
‘Did she put some kind of spell on them or something?
‘Why do all the Berenson brothers suddenly turn into idiots the moment they see her?’
Anna looked like she was about to cry, her eyes turning red as she looked up at Nerissa, trying to play the victim. “Dr. Jamison, I’m really sorry. I just care so much about Mrs. Berenson’s condition that I got a little carried away. If I said anything that upset you, please don’t take it to heart.”
Nerissa could see right through Anna’s little act.
She didn’t even spare Anna a glance, just turned to Harvey and said, “Sir, Mrs. Berenson’s condition is critical. I need a sterile operating room and a medical assistant right away.”
Victor nodded. “I’ll get it arranged right away. As for the medical assistant, how about Dr. Campbell?”
Anna was fuming inside. ‘This cocky kid actually dares to ignore me?
‘I’m the one and only heir to the Sullivan family!
‘I even went out of my way to apologize to her, and she still has the nerve to act like it means nothing!
‘Hmph!
“This cocky kid won’t be riding high for long!’ Anna thought, her eyes narrowing with malice.
Eric stepped up when his name was mentioned. “Sir, I’ve got another surgery in half an hour, so I might not have enough time.”
Truth was, it wasn’t really about the time.
Eric just didn’t want to be an assistant to someone he thought was a fraud.
If Nerissa was actually the real deal, he’d be more than happy to help out.
After all, if he managed to help save Mrs. Berenson, he’d get credit as one of the people who saved her life, and that’d be

great for his career.
But right now, Mrs. Berenson would definitely end up dead if Nerissa was in charge.
If Mrs. Berenson died because of Nerissa, he’d be seen as an accomplice. Eric wasn’t about to risk that.
Victor didn’t make things difficult for Eric. “Alright, I’ll find someone else.”

Nerissa was quick to catch the look of reluctance in Eric’s eyes. She said, “Sir, no need to worry about it. I can handle the needle technique solo.”
If Eric wasn’t willing to step up as her assistant, it was obvious no one else would want to risk it either.
Forcing people wasn’t Nerissa’s style.
Victor jumped in, “Dr. Jamison, Harbourview Hospital is basically ours. Getting a medical assistant is no problem at all.”
“Don’t bother,” Nerissa said. “Just set up a sterile room for me.”
“Okay.”
The sterile room was set up in no time.
The nurses wheeled Mrs. Berenson into the sterile room.
Nerissa changed into her surgical gown.
Before heading into the operating room, Frederick turned to Nerissa. “Dr. Jamison, how long will the needle technique take?”
“About three and a half hours,” Nerissa replied.
Frederick nodded. “We’ll be waiting for you outside the operating room.”
“Okay.”
Nerissa put on her mask and headed into the operating room.
The Berenson family waited anxiously outside.
Oliver turned to Victor, finally voicing the question that had been on his mind. “Dad, why do you and the uncles trust this young girl so much?”
Victor smiled. “I can’t really explain it, but every time I see her, I just feel at ease.”
Lawrence chimed in, “Same here. The moment I see Dr. Jamison, I feel a sense of familiarity. Even though it’s our first time meeting, it’s like we’ve known each other for years.”
Boaz nodded. “Seriously, same here! Just seeing Dr. Jamison makes me feel all kinds of things-like my heart’s doing flips.”
Joel and Jasper nodded in agreement.
“I thought it was just me,” Sean said. “Turns out, all of you feel the same way too!”

But the person standing in front of them was Nerissa.
Even though it was their first time meeting her, they just trusted Nerissa, no matter what.
It was almost as if something unseen was tying them all together.
With his dad and uncles all saying the same thing, Oliver figured there was no point arguing.
They’d been through way more than he ever could-crossed more bridges than he’d walked roads.
Oliver nodded. “Alright then, let’s hope Dr. Jamison doesn’t disappoint us!”
Anna had just walked over when she caught Oliver’s words.
‘Not disappoint them?
‘Hmph!
‘As if!
‘What a bunch of idiots, Anna sneered inwardly.
They were actually putting Mrs. Berenson’s life in the hands of that clueless little brat.
But then again, this actually worked out pretty well for Anna.
She’d already brought in that world-renowned medical expert.

Once that cocky kid screws things up and leaves Mrs. Berenson barely alive, the Berensons will be begging her for help.
Thinking about it, Anna couldn’t help but let a smirk curl at her lips.
Her eyes gleamed with smug self-satisfaction.
‘Soon.
‘The Berensons will be begging me for help any minute now!’ Anna gloated inwardly.
Inside the sterile room.
Nerissa took out her acupuncture kit and began applying the needles for Mrs. Berenson.
One needle after another went in, every single one hitting exactly the right acupuncture point.
Lying on the bed, Mrs. Berenson, half-conscious, suddenly felt like something blocked inside her was now flowing free-a soothing warmth spreading throughout her body.
A warm, soothing current seemed to flood through her veins.
It was such an easy, relaxing feeling.
Mrs. Berenson forced her eyes open and saw the young girl carefully placing needles into her skin.
‘Why does that face look so much like Charlotte when she was young?
‘Is that Arie?
‘Is that really Arie coming back for me?’

Feeling dazed, Mrs. Berenson passed out again.
In her dreams, she saw Arie returning to her side.
Nineteen years had gone by.

Arie had blossomed into a total knockout-way more dazzling than Charlotte ever was, even at her most glamorous.
“Arie… Arie…” Mrs. Berenson whispered, her voice trembling.
A hot tear rolled down from the corner of her eye.
‘Arie, Grandma misses you so much.
Outside the sterile room, the Berenson family waited anxiously, worry written all over their faces.
Time ticked by, each second feeling like an eternity.
Just like that, three and a half hours had gone by-the exact time Nerissa mentioned.
Xavier was starting to get restless. “Uncle, didn’t Dr. Jamison say she’d be done with the needle technique in three hours? It’s been three and a half now, and there’s still no movement from inside the sterile room!”
Victor glanced at his watch. “Dr. Jamison said about three and a half hours. Don’t worry, just give it a little more time.”
Xavier frowned slightly. “Uncle, do you really think Dr. Jamison can pull this off?”
‘Can she really do it?’
Anna’s eyes flashed with malice as she heard that, and she let out a cold snort in her mind.
‘If that brat actually manages to save Mrs. Berenson, I’ll eat shit!’ Anna sneered inwardly.
Suddenly, there was a loud bang—the door to the sterile room flew open.
Nerissa stepped out of the sterile room.
“Dr. Jamison, how is she?” The Berenson family rushed over, their voices filled with worry and anticipation.
Nerissa pulled down her mask. “Needle Crossing went perfectly. All the blood clots in Mrs. Berenson’s brain have been cleared, and she’s out of danger now.”
‘All the blood clots cleared?
‘She’s out of danger?
Anna froze when she heard that.
Her eyes went wide and she almost stumbled.
“That cocky kid? No way she actually saved Mrs. Berenson!
“There’s no way this is real. It must be a lie,’ Anna told herself, clinging to her disbelief.
The Berenson family broke out in cheers.
Victor quickly asked, “Can we go in and see my mom now?”
“Yes, you can.”

Chapter 109
Nerissa nodded. “Alright, everyone, come in with me.”
Everyone trailed after Nerissa into the sterile room.
Right at that moment, Mrs. Berenson woke up, looking around in confusion. She pressed a hand to her forehead-her voice was still weak, but her cheeks were finally starting to show some color instead of that ghostly pale from before.
“W-What’s going on? Where am I?” Mrs. Berenson stammered.
Everyone saw this scene unfold.
Anna’s face went ghostly pale.
‘How did this even happen?’ Anna thought, her mind reeling.
She’d honestly expected to walk in and see Mrs. Berenson’s corpse.
But instead, Mrs. Berenson was actually awake!
“What the hell is going on?
‘Did that brat actually save Mrs. Berenson?
‘No way!
‘How old is she, anyway?
‘No way she’s some medical genius.
“This has to be a total fluke. Mrs. Berenson probably woke up thanks to the hospital, and that brat just lucked out and got all the credit.
‘Otherwise, why would Nerissa not even bother with a medical assistant?
‘Once that sterile room door shut, nobody could tell what she was really up to in there.
The more Anna dwelled on it, the more convinced she became.
If she had known things would end up like this, she would’ve claimed she was a doctor too-Mrs. Berenson was bound to wake up anyway.
If she’d been the one in that sterile room treating Mrs. Berenson, she’d be the one getting all the credit as Mrs. Berenson’s savior right now.
Anna was so pissed she could barely stand it.
Seeing Mrs. Berenson, who was at death’s door just three hours ago, now miraculously awake and healthy, the Berenson family couldn’t believe their eyes-they were bursting with joy.
“Grandma’s really awake!”
“Mom! You’re okay, you’re really okay! Oh my god, this is incredible!”
Victor and his seven brothers practically tackled her in a group hug, crying tears of joy.
Verena and the seven sisters-in-law were all crying tears of happiness too.
“Mom, do you feel any discomfort anywhere?”

Mrs. Berenson could feel her strength coming back. Looking at her sons and daughters-in-law, she smiled and said, “I feel fine, really. Don’t worry about me, kids.”
Nancy quickly added, “Mom, you have no idea how close you were to dying. Dr. Campbell even told us to start making arrangements for your funeral. Thank goodness Dr. Jamison was here-she’s our family’s savior!”
“Yeah, Mom, Nancy’s right. Dr. Jamison is our family’s lifesaver!” the others chimed in.
“Dr. Jamison?” Mrs. Berenson mumbled, still groggy. Flashes of that girl with the needles flickered through her mind, but she couldn’t tell if it was real or just her imagination. “Where’s Dr. Jamison? Is she here?”
“I’m right here,” Nerissa said, stepping forward.
When Mrs. Berenson saw Nerissa, her eyes widened in disbelief. She stared for a moment, then suddenly reached out and grabbed Nerissa’s hand, tears bursting out as she sobbed, “Arie! Arie! My Arie, you’re finally back! You came back to your grandma! Oh, thank goodness! So I wasn’t dreaming just now!”
