Dumped Then Claimed By A Billionaire (Nerissa and Owen) novel Chapter 11

Chapter 11 Divorce

Nerissa glanced back slightly, meeting Owen’s gaze. She couldn’t help but roll her eyes. “Owen, are you crazy? What else do you think I’m doing at City Hall besides filing for divorce?”

Hearing Nerissa mention divorce again, Owen was utterly incredulous. ‘She’s here to file for divorce? No way, he thought. Nerissa adored him deeply. She was attentive to him, not only reviewing his plans but even cooking for him and knitting

scarves.

She wore heavy makeup, dressed in the gray clothes he liked, and clung to him every day. Even just a glance from Owen made her ecstatic.

When Owen confessed his feelings for Audrey, Nerissa became insanely jealous and even confronted Audrey alone, frightening her badly.

‘Now, to win me back, Nerissa’s dropped the makeup. Why did she take it off? To seduce me? She definitely wants to seduce me. Who dresses so nicely when they’re divorcing?’ Owen couldn’t think of any other explanation.

Disgust filled Owen’s eyes as he spoke again. “Nerissa, no matter what you do, you’ll always look like a clown to me. Don’t ever fool yourself into thinking you’ll earn my approval.”

Owen thought, ‘My future wife will only ever be Audrey. Audrey’s gentle and beautiful, a proper blue-blooded family heiress. Nerissa can’t compare.’

Thinking of Audrey softened Owen’s expression slightly.

Nerissa felt like she was about to puke.

‘Is Owen disgusting or what? So narcissistic. I really don’t understand why the owner of this body ever loved him. She’s got terrible taste. Time to back off, she wondered.

“Owen, open your eyes and look clearly before you speak, okay? I’m here today to get a divorce, not to clean up your trash.” Nerissa’s voice was calm.

“From now on, even if you collapse on the floor begging me, I won’t agree to marry you. I hope you and Audrey lock it down for good, forever and ever, never to part,” she added.

Owen narrowed his eyes, looking at Nerissa.

He could see in her eyes that she still loved him, deeply and helplessly.

‘I see. Nerissa still loves me, so she’s deliberately using reverse psychology to provoke me,’ Owen thought.

He curled his lips into a smirk. “Nerissa, don’t think I don’t know what you’re really thinking. Only Audrey deserves a proposal from me. You? Who do you think you are? Stop dreaming.”

Nerissa almost threw up at how greasy and self-absorbed Owen looked.

She was about to retort when her phone suddenly rang.

“Hello?” Nerissa answered.

Owen walked up to the divorce window and pulled out the documents he’d prepared long ago. “We’re here to get divorced.”

The clerk glanced at Nerissa, who was still on the phone. “Where’s the wife’s documents?”

Owen looked at Nerissa, irritation flashing across his face.

‘What’s she doing? Pretending to take a call to dodge the divorce? Of course, Nerissa’s shameless and unfit to be taken seriously, Owen thought.

Hearing the clerk, Nerissa immediately hung up. “Coming.”

“What documents do you need?” she asked.

“Personal documents and marriage license,” the clerk replied.

It was Nerissa’s first divorce, and she wasn’t sure what to bring! Luckily, she had all the documents ready. She bent down and began digging through her bag.

Owen almost anticipated her next move.

‘She’s probably going to claim she forgot her paners her only excuse to avoid divorce. Shameless,’ he thought, his disgust nearly spilling over.

Successfully unlocked!

Just as Owen waited for Nerissa to claim she forgot the uucuments, she surprised him by pulling out everything and handing it to the clerk. “Here’s my documents.”

Chapter 11 Divorce

Owen froze, barely able to react.

He wondered, ‘What’s going on? Why isn’t she following the usual script? Does she actually want this divorce? She loves me so much, how could she really want to split?

‘And today, she hasn’t cried, thrown a tantrum, or threatened suicide once.’

His feelings became complicated.

The clerk followed the procedure. “What’s the reason for divorce?”

“He cheated,” Nerissa answered bluntly.

The clerk glanced at Owen with disdain. ‘He looks respectable, but he’s a cheating jerk, she thought.

Veins bulged on Owen’s forehead as he thought, ‘I love Audrey, that’s true love. How is this cheating? In any relationship, the unloved one is the mistress.

‘Nerissa’s the mistress. I knew she still loved me. Otherwise, why would she bitterly accuse me of cheating? She’s jealous of Audrey.’

“Do you have children?” the clerk asked again.

“No,” Nerissa replied. “I’ve already signed the divorce agreement. We have no property disputes. Please process the paperwork as soon as possible.”

The clerk didn’t ask further. She stamped the divorce certificates with a click and handed them over.

After receiving the divorce papers, Nerissa breathed a sigh of relief. Thankfully, the process was straightforward.

Watching Nerissa’s back, Owen narrowed his eyes and warned, “Nerissa, we’re officially divorced now. From this day forward, you have no ties to the Calloway family.

“I hope you won’t bother Audrey anymore, and you’d better not set foot near the Calloway family again. Otherwise, don’t blame me for forgetting our past.”

He had a feeling that once she left City Hall, Nerissa would immediately go looking to cause trouble for Audrey.

Audrey was pure and kindhearted. Even if Nerissa bullied her, she would pretend nothing happened.

‘I absolutely can’t let Nerissa get near Audrey,’ Owen thought.

Nerissa stopped in her tracks, furrowing her brow slightly. “Owen, do you think everyone thinks like you? If you’re that bored, go find something else to do. Don’t disgust me.”

Owen frowned deeply. ‘What’s wrong with Nerissa? She wouldn’t have talked to me like this before, he wondered.

But soon he figured it out. ‘Love runs deep, and so does hate, he thought. ‘She must still love me terribly to act like this.

‘Otherwise, why would she curse only me and no one else? In the end, she’s just unwilling to let go. But what good does that do? I will never love Nerissa.’

Just then, a phone rang.

When he saw the caller documents, Owen’s expression softened a bit. “Hey/Audrey.”

On the other end, Audrey’s gentle voice came through. “Owen, did Nerissa threaten suicide again? She loves you so much. If she doesn’t want a divorce, then fine, I’m willing to give you back to her”

There was a trace of hurt in her voice.

Audrey was so vulnerable, and Owen’s heart ached.

He wondered, ‘Audrey is too kind. There aren’t many women in this world who would willingly give up the man they love to another woman like that.

‘Nerissa’s petty in comparison. Luckily, I have nothing to do with Nerissa anymore.’

“Audrey, don’t worry. Nerissa and I finalized the divorce smoothly. I promise I’ll marry you,” Owen assured.

‘They divorced?’ Audrey thought, clearly surprised. ‘That doesn’t quite fit Nerissa’s usual style.’

Owen added, “Although we’re divorced, Nerissa doesn’t seem to accept it easily. You need to be careful these days. If you notice her following you, contact me immediately.”

“Okay, Owen. I’ll be careful.” Audrey paused. “But I don’t think Nerissa is the stalking type. Don’t overthink it.”

Owen snorted coldly, “Nerissa would do anything for me. Don’t imagine she’s that innocent.”

After leaving City Hall, Nerissa felt refreshed.

Chapter 11 Divorce

Nerissa went back home. Hunter had already finished work and was cooking in the kitchen.

The air was filled with an enticing aroma.

Hearing Nerissa come in, Hunter called out loudly while stirring the food, “Nerissa, you’ve got some packages this

afternoon, several of them. I put them all on the coffee table.”

“Thanks, Grandpa.” After changing her shoes, Nerissa went to the living room and started unpacking.

There were three boxes, all containing laptop parts she had ordered. Once opened, the pieces were scattered in a small pile.

Nerissa dumped all the parts on the floor and began sorting them.

Hunter came out of the kitchen, startled by the mess. “Nerissa, what are you taking apart at our house?”

The scene stirred distant memories in Hunter’s mind.

Nerissa had loved dismantling appliances since she was little. For a moment, Hunter felt like he was back many years ago.

“It’s nothing,” Nerissa smiled, “Grandpa, these are parts I bought online to assemble a laptop.”

Though skeptical of Nerissa’s technical skills, Hunter didn’t discourage her enthusiasm. Since she’d just divorced, keeping busy was good for her.

He smiled and said, “Dinner’s ready. Go wash up and eat. You can work on those later. Tomorrow morning, we’ll find time to visit Dylan.”
