Dumped Then Claimed By A Billionaire (Nerissa and Owen) novel Chapter 128

Chapter 128

Mrs. Sullivan was extremely nervous right now.

She could feel her anxiety rising with every passing second.

Leo had been to countless doctors over the years.

Every single one was a top-tier expert with international accolades.

But all of them said the odds of Leo ever waking up were next to nothing, unless some miracle happened.

As a mother, Mrs. Sullivan could only hold onto one wish: that her son would wake up someday.

She never stopped hoping, no matter how impossible it seemed.

Nerissa went on, “The main reason my dad fell into a coma was because his brain suffered serious trauma. After the surgery, there was actually a chance he could’ve woken up. But with his mild hypertension and a small brain hemorrhage on top of the severe injury, he’s stayed unconscious all this time.”

Hearing this, Mrs. Sullivan’s brows furrowed tightly, her expression turning grim.

‘Did my granddaughter just mean… my son will never wake up?’ she thought, a wave of dread washing over her.

But then, Nerissa’s next words made Mrs. Sullivan’s eyes light up.

“But don’t worry, Grandma. I’m seventy percent sure I can wake my dad up,” Nerissa said.

Mrs. Berenson’s eyes sparkled with hope. “Really, Arie? You can really wake your dad up?”

Leo might not be Charlotte’s own son, but a son-in-law is like half a son, he was her daughter’s husband and her granddaughter’s father.

As family elders, Mrs. Berenson and Mrs. Sullivan shared the same hope.

They both wished Leo would wake up soon.

That way.

That way, there’d be one more person to help look for Charlotte Berenson.

“It’s true,” Nerissa said, nodding slightly.

When Nerissa said that, Anna shot her a sarcastic look.

‘Figures. She’s just a country bumpkin who thinks she’s something special.

Anna thought, her eyes full of mockery.

‘She really thinks she can brag about anything,’ Anna scoffed to herself.

Leo had been bedridden for nineteen years.

He’d seen more world-class specialists than anyone could count.

If he was going to wake up, it wouldn’t have taken this long.

‘Nerissa’s just a clueless little brat. What does she know about healing?’ Anna thought with a sneer.

‘Absolutely ridiculous,’ Anna snorted to herself.

Luna and Dunstan glanced at each other, catching the same smirk of ridicule in each other’s eyes.

That’s right.

It was just mockery.

After all, according to their investigation, Nerissa was just some immature kid who hadn’t even finished high

school.

If there was anything that made her different, it was the fact that she’d already been married and divorced, hardly something to brag about.

‘People from respectable families don’t get divorced,’ Luna and Dunstan thought at the same time.

‘Once you’re divorced, you’re basically secondhand goods, they sneered to themselves.

“That’s wonderful! That’s wonderful!” Mrs. Sullivan exclaimed, her voice trembling with excitement. She quickly grabbed Leo’s hand. “Leo, did you hear that? Arie says you can wake up! You’re going to wake up!”

By the end, Mrs. Sullivan was so overwhelmed with joy that she was almost in tears.

‘This is wonderful!’ Mrs. Sullivan thought, her heart overflowing with joy.

‘It’s like two blessings have come at once,’ she thought, her heart overflowing with joy.

Mrs. Sullivan had absolute faith in her granddaughter.

It was the kind of trust that was completely unconditional.

So when she heard Nerissa’s words, she genuinely believed her granddaughter could help her son recover.

Mrs. Berenson looked at Nerissa. “Arie, any idea when your dad might wake up?”

Hearing this, Mrs. Sullivan turned to Nerissa in a flash, eyes brimming with anticipation.

Mrs. Berenson’s siblings and their spouses all had their eyes on Nerissa, waiting for her reply.

Nerissa replied, “It could take as little as six months, or up to a year.”

‘Six months to a year? Seriously?’ Anna scoffed inwardly, barely able to keep a straight face.

Anna nearly snorted out loud at Nerissa’s answer, her eyes full of disbelief and mockery.

‘If Nerissa was really some miracle healer, why would she need a whole year to get Leo back on his feet?’ Anna thought, rolling her eyes.

Anyone could see what was going on.

She was obviously just buying herself time.

When a year passed and Leo was still out cold, she’d just make up another excuse.

‘I’ve seen this kind of trick a million times before,’ Anna thought with a sneer. She knew Nerissa’s type all too

well.

Strangely enough,

Mrs. Sullivan, Mrs. Berenson, and the rest of Mrs. Berenson’s family didn’t doubt her for a second.

‘Seriously, are they all crazy?’ Anna thought to herself, shaking her head in disbelief.

After Nerissa finished speaking, she added, “By the way, Grandma, I specialize in traditional medicine. Some of its theories actually conflict with modern medicine, so if Dad’s going to let me treat him, he can’t be getting any Western medical treatments at the same time.”

To Anna, every word out of Nerissa’s mouth was full of holes.

‘Any decent doctor would recommend combining both traditional and modern medicine,’ Anna thought, rolling her eyes.

‘Who says the two can’t work together?’ she scoffed to herself.

‘She’s not here to heal Leo-she’s basically sending him to his grave, Anna thought, her eyes narrowing with suspicion.

Anna couldn’t take it anymore and was just about to say something when a hand landed gently on her shoulder.

She looked up and met Luna’s look, a silent warning that said it all.

Anna got the message and bit back whatever she was about to say.

Mrs. Sullivan looked at Nerissa and said, “No problem, Arie. From now on, no other doctors will be treating your dad, it’s all up to you now.”

“Got it, Grandma,” Nerissa replied. •

Mrs. Sullivan took Leo’s hand. “Leo, your long ordeal is almost over. Things are finally turning around for you.”

Chapter 128

It had been nineteen years.

She’d waited nineteen years.

She’d hoped for nineteen years.

And now, at last, good news had finally arrived.

Mrs. Berenson wiped away her tears. “Tiffany, it looks like our days of hardship are finally over.”

“Yes,” Tiffany replied, her voice trembling with emotion.

Luna smiled and said, “Arie really is our family’s little good luck charm. Ever since she came back, Mom’s long-standing illness finally got cured, and now Leo’s finally about to wake up too.”

After that, Luna shot Anna a look and teased, “Anna, just look at your sister Arie, she’s barely grown up already a medical prodigy. You should stick close and pick up a thing or two from her.”

and

Anna was dying inside, but she had no choice but to nod and plaster on a smile. “Sure, Mom. I’ll tag along after Arie and learn whatever I can.”

Anna was just putting on a humble act.

She’d expected Tiffany to say a few words in her favor, after all, she was obviously much more accomplished than that country bumpkin Nerissa.

‘Nerissa isn’t even worth my pinky finger, Anna scoffed to herself.

But Tiffany didn’t say anything at all.

From start to finish, Tiffany didn’t even spare her a glance.

It was like she only had eyes for Nerissa.

‘So biased!’ Anna grumbled to herself.

‘How can there be such a shamelessly favoritist grandma in this world?’ Anna thought, her annoyance flaring.

‘No wonder she’s doomed to die alone,’ Anna sneered inwardly.

Luna added, “Oh, by the way, Mom, Grandma, I’ve set Arie’s welcome home party for the 28th. Is that a good time for you?”

Tiffany didn’t give her opinion right away. Instead, she turned to Mrs. Berenson and asked, “Mrs. Berenson, what do you think?”

“I think it’s perfect,” Mrs. Berenson said with a big smile. “After the welcome home banquet on the 28th, Victor and the others will probably take the kids back to Minttown for the New Year. But I’m shameless, I’m staying right here in Kindowen with Arie for the holidays!”

She’d only just found her granddaughter again, and there was no way she was letting her go so soon.

Besides,

it was their very first New Year together as grandmother and granddaughter.

Mrs. Sullivan smiled and said, “Selene, having you stay with us for the New Year is a real honor for our family. The more the merrier! It’s settled then, the welcome home banquet is set for the 28th.”

*****

Luna had already set up the guest rooms ahead of time, and made sure Nerissa and Hunter had their own places to stay.

Once the Berenson family was settled in, Mrs. Sullivan and Luna walked Nerissa and Hunter over to their

rooms.

Luna smiled and said, “Hunter, I wasn’t sure what kind of room you’d prefer, so I set you up in a classic garden-style courtyard. By the way, Arie’s place is right next door.”

The Sullivan family’s estate was massive.

Even before Nerissa came home, Mrs. Sullivan had already reserved the finest courtyard in the whole estate for her.

Hunter chuckled, “Luna, you really don’t have to fuss over me. I’m just an old guy, any room is fine.”
